I had a mullerectomy done to correct the ptosis in my left eyelid 10 months ago. I am less than pleased with the result and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for next steps, as I would like to have another surgery done ASAP. I understand perfect symmetry is impossible to achieve...but this result is less than satisfactory and there is still noticeable drooping. I also want to mention that I use Upneeq, and have been using it since before my surgery. The result I get from using that is what I would like to see from a surgical procedure. I have included a picture of that as well for reference. Any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated.
I had my first ptosis surgery in Feb. 2015, done internally. I had a correction surgery performed by a different surgeon in June 2017, done externally this time. I feel as though this one has failed also. Not sure what my options are at this point. I had a difficult time with recovery both times. Ive tried the Upneeq drops as well, they are okay but seems to open both top and bottom lid and make my eye look overcorrected. I also have noticeable dryness with the drops. Insight much appreciated!
I have congenital ptosis in my left eyelid. In 2016 I got the muscle tightened and it did nothing at all, made it worse. In June 2020 the same surgeon did the same surgery and made eye droopier than ever before. Found a new surgeon and had the surgery again in December of 2020 (6 months later) and eye looks best it has, but still droopier than right eye and different shape. I had a consultation with new doc in California and he says last option is full thickness method. Im scared. Thoughts?
Why would my eyes look symmetrical on the operating table but not post op when the swelling has gone down? Is it better to have another surgeon take a look? What are your thoughts on not being able to close my eye? Surgeon #2 says I will need to lubricate during the day and put cream in at night for the rest of my life. Should I consider this? Would you get a third opinion?Are there any other techniques available that could assist?
I had ptosis surgery 1.5 years ago on the right eye and the doctor said to do the left eye as well to get a symmetric look. He operated again on my right eye 3 months later because the 1st surgery failed. Today I look over and under corrected. A new doctor noticed that my eyes are shaped different from each other and wants a ct scan to rule out silent sinus syndrome while the first doctor said he would just lower the left lid to match the right. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
Updated Question: I had ptosis surgery 5 weeks ago now. I had the levator muscle tightened by a specialized oculoplastic surgeon. He tightened my muscles as far as he could so there is no way to do a revision later on. When I go back after 3 months post op he suggested a sling. I have been advised against that by doctors here Did the surgery made things worse? Is there any other surgery options out there for me? I hate my eyes anymore and it's becoming more difficult on my vision?
What is going on with my eye?? A few weeks after surgery my eye looked great. I was so happy with the result. it has been two months since my second ptosis surgery with a board certified oculoplastic surgeon. I expected so much more and now I have this. I saw my doctor two weeks ago and all he talked about was the 1mm difference in my eyes. What about my eyelid? he mentioned possibly a third surgery. I am hesitant to return to the same surgeon. I would really love some advice.
Hi, I'm 17 and live in the US. I had a ptosis repair in December of 2014 on my right eye. I had one in August 2015 on my left eye. My original surgeon retired before I came back for my second surgery. At the time of my first procedure, he didn't recognize my left eye as droopy; only my right. I am now noticing how terrible my first surgeon did. My left eye I think looks great, my right... Looks botched. When I raise my eyebrows, my right eyebrow is distorted, pulling to the right. What can I do?
