I am 31 years old and had early signs of aging in the lower half of my face which included jowling. With the type of jaw structure I have, the amount of jowling contributed to a masculine appearance. Despite my young age, I was routinely assumed much older and this has contributed to some difficulty in social situations with peers of my same age group. I wanted to do something for myself to make me feel better about my appearance and to hopefully stave off a few years of aging going into my 30s. In addition, I am a former smoker, and had years of issues with acne from my teens into adulthood. I felt co2 laser resurfacing would help to refresh my skin and give it a restart. Pros: Dr. Chan and his staff are friendly, caring and understanding. Out of previous providers I consulted with, Dr. Chan was the only one who took the time to listen to my concerns, and who took me seriously. Given my young age, previous providers refused to even consider a min lift, and never really examined the condition of my skin. Dr. Chan did examine my skin, and although I had wanted an upper and lower lift, he felt it was more suitable to go for the lower lift at this time. He is conservative in his approach and professional. Cons: I really have no cons regarding Dr. Chan and his staff, it's more along the lines of post operative healing. I have had significant swelling due to having 3 procedures at the same time. I would say going forward to anyone considering getting these procedures done, make sure you are not expecting perfection, and that you are mentally prepared for the initial appearance of your face. You will look like a burnt puffed up balloon for a minute. This will be an ongoing review I will continue to update results of the healing process. Updated on 15 Jun 2021: Swelling still present, but with the pist laser balm, icing and taking prescribed medications it is slowly going down and the dead skin is slowly coming off. There are lumps present even 6 days after which is why I say to please be mentally prepared for the full results of this kind of surgery to not be seen immediately. I'm also very young to even have had this procedure and this may contribute to the prolonged swelling and lumps present. It takes a while for your tissues to resettle and connect and for your glands to also settle and drain everything completely. Updated on 15 Jun 2021: So on day six I will say that the swelling is still present at on the sides of my face where the facelift incisions are. I would say the swelling has gone down in this area by about 15% compared to the day of surgery. I can try to mask this with makeup and putting my hair down, but this does not camouflage the lumps or swelling in situations like if I'm outside and the wind blows my hair back. On a positive note, front view of my face and sides of my jawline are actually in a position it was about 7 years ago. I'm hoping that the swelling improves by 50% atleast by week 2 or 3 and 80% by one month out. I'm also hoping that when the swelling goes away that it will not have stretched my skin so much that the lift isn't very noticeable afterward. Updated on 19 Jun 2021: I've been aware my face is asymmetrical for a while now, but one side of my face is still swollen more than the other, on the same side of my face which has always been bigger than the other. At this point, I really don't think there's anything more that could be done to my face unless there were some sort of facial bone doctor who could address the asymmetry at a skeletal level. There is a bunched up area of my skin on the right side of my cheek which has not improved very much. The left side is almost completely back to normal. Updated on 15 Jul 2021: No makeup or filter, just an update for those of you who are interested in receiving either one of the procedures I have had done. This includes a mini facelift with incisions along my ear, a lateral brow lift, and co2 laser resurfacing. As I will be honest, I also want to make clear that my honesty is not because of the skill of my surgeon who I feel has done a spectacular job and who I will see again in the future for a planned rhinoplasty, chin bone shaving down, lip lift and cheek implants. For now this is the result of what I have done. 1. The scars for my lateral brow lift are healing slower than normal. I am a former smoker and currently vape so this is likely why. I personally would have liked my eyebrows in a higher position, however I do value my surgeons conservative approach considering eyebrows are pretty tricky. If placed too high, that makes the face look really odd. So, he lifted the tail end of my eyebrows and that is what I was looking for. Again, perfection is not ever what you should be expecting when getting cosmetic work done. 2. I personally feel after having gotten co2 that it really didn't do much to my skin as far as improving texture. My pores are still large, and I still cannot put any type of foundation on. The texture of my skin is the same as it was prior to the laser. That said, don't rule it out for yourself as it might benefit you. My skin is still red and there are some residual grafting red streaks which will diminish and lighten as time passes. Also keep in mind, I got this done during the summer, which isn't advisable. 3. I'm happy with the results of the mini lift, it has positioned my jawline to where it was about 5 years ago. And the lump which was on the right side has gone away. I feel the price I paid for these procedures was reasonable and worth it. Did it make me appear younger? Personally I don't think so. Did it improve my profile along my jaw and the position of my eyebrows? Yes I believe it did.
I had two treatments at Reviance. Both occurred on the same day, lower eye lid surgery and a filler injection. Before electing to allow Dr. Chan to operate on my face, I interviewed four other surgeons. I choose Dr Chan because he was the most informative surgeon I had the pleasure of meeting, his staff was warm, friendly and professional plus I never felt rushed with my (many) questions. From the very beginning to my end results, I was totally impressed with the concern and attention given to me by Reviance. The office manager/care coordinator was extremely attentive, she made me feel very important and well cared for. The office staff always smiles and warmly welcomes you in the waiting room. Dr Chan is highly skilled and an excellent surgeon. Although Reviance is not on the lower end of the price scale, nor close to my home, I am very glad I choose to book with Dr. Chan. I would highly recommend Dr Chan and the team at Reviance for any one considering plastic elective surgery. I can not speak highly enough of my experience. Marcus D (aka Tyler) Beaverton
