I had Botox due to frown lines on my forehead that had worsened with the stresses of lockdown!Dr. Ghanem and Dr. George injected me in various spots on my face and my neck. It was quick and painless and within a couple of days, I could see the result! I love it! I love the feeling of knowing I am frowning but no longer feeling my forehead creasing as a result of the stress! I wanted fillers due to eye hollows and skin sagging on my cheeks. Dr. Ghanem inserted fillers in several locations on my face. He is truly a master at what he does. I would not go anywhere else for this procedure. The reason being that it is very delicate, as a patient you feel quite vulnerable especially when it’s areas around your eyes etc.I know with Dr. Ghanem I am in safe hands due to his experience doing far more complicated procedures on the face - so I only trust him and will never go anywhere else. I was very nervous about the procedure due to various celebrities in the media who look overdone, however, Dr. Ghanem gave me a completely natural result. I have had such lovely comments from friends asking if I’ve been on holiday as I look really rested and well, that’s the kind of result and look I was after!
I went to see Dr Ghanem about Body Tite. Loose overhanging skin and fat overhanging my caesarean scar had bothered me for a long time especially since I lost a significant amount of weight a few years ago which led to that area of my body being out of proportion with the rest. He spent a lot of time explaining Body Tite to me but upon examining me advised that it wouldn’t be effective due to skin laxity. I explained to him how another surgeon had advised for me to have a tummy tuck but I mentioned how this wouldn’t fit my lifestyle due to being a single mum, not wanting to have someone looking after me for weeks plus a long recovery which would mean no exercise. Dr Ghanem suggested an apronectomy combined with lipo as this would address the lower half of my abdomen which is what bothered me the most. What I liked is that he listened to me, really listened to what my life constraints were and didn’t push a TT procedure on me. Before and after the initial consultation I was dealing with Alan and he was very responsive. I decided go ahead a few weeks later. I came back in for another consultation and met Dr Ghassan too. They planned a date in that fit in with school holidays - again I really felt they were trying to make life as easy as possible for me! I then went in a 3rd time to get fitted for a post surgery compression garment. Every time I went in I would be laughing as both surgeons have such a nice way about them, as well as their lovely assistant Heba! Prior to the surgery I had a lot of silly questions like, could I keep my nail varnish on for surgery and Heba always answered any questions I had in a timely manner. She really put me at ease. On the day of surgery (under local sedation) I was understandably nervous but their anaesthetist Dr Mike Herbertson was so lovely and put me at ease with his conversation style. The surgery went well, Heba’s sister who also works at the clinic very kindly escorted me home and then I had a friend with me for the initial 24 hours. Post surgery the liposuction is what I found uncomfortable, the bruising and fluid retention was painful but the doctors ensured I had sufficient meds to take at regular intervals. I went in for check ups on day 2 and and day 5 post surgery and was healing well, on day 9 (Christmas eve) I started to feel like I was really turning a corner energy wise however I woke up on Christmas Day with fever and chills! I got in touch with Heba at the clinic on Boxing Day, although both surgeons were abroad they phoned me and messaged me. They asked me to see their colleague Dr George on the 27th. He couldn’t see any signs of infection as the wound was still healing well. On the 28th I woke up and my bandages had filled up with fluid. I contacted Heba, Dr Ghanem phoned me from abroad and I was instructed to go in again and see Dr George. He gave me an ultra sound to confirm that there was no seroma and it was confirmed that my incision had opened up and a Haematoma was leaking out. I was shown how to change the dressings and given antibiotics. On the 31st Dr George saw me again - he made me laugh a lot as he gave me a special New Years Eve multi layered dressing (humor helps a lot!) I then saw Dr Ghassan a few days later and Dr Ghanem a few days after that. Both doctors were very reassuring that the haematoma would decrease day by day and the incision would close up - and it did! I would say the incision took about 3 weeks to fully close where it had opened up, just as Dr Ghanem predicted! 5 weeks post op I was out jogging again, only 3km to start but by 6 weeks post op I was back to 7km. I went for my 6 week post op check up and Dr Ghanem was over joyed to see me back to my normal self, he was pleased I was jogging and said I could play rugby if I wanted to! I’ve now eased back into my HIT and strength work outs and I’m only 7 weeks post op! The swelling from the lipo is 80% gone and I now just wear spanx rather than the compression garment – however it’s important to wear the compression garment for the first 6 weeks. Dr Ghanem is kindly giving me laser treatment on my scar at 3 months post op, as I have darker skin. The incision line is really tidy and neat though which is great. I love how I look, it is amazing not to have the overhang anymore! Clothes fit so much better and I wish I had got this procedure done sooner. I do think being in good physical condition prior to the surgery helped a lot and it definitely meant I had the motivation and discipline to get back to exercise. A lot of friends asked me why I wasn’t going to Turkey for surgery. I’m so glad I listened to my instincts and had it done in the UK. I shudder to think what would have happened if I’d had this surgery abroad and had complications back in the UK. Who would I have turned to? The care I received was exceptional. I felt so looked after by Heba, who was my initial point of contact and all 3 surgeons. They went above and beyond to look after me and literally opened up the clinic especially for me during the Xmas and new year period. This all happened during an anxious time with COVID restrictions – again all COVID restrictions were followed at the clinic so I always felt safe. Ultimately, I think the feeling you get with your surgeons and support staff is a good indicator of what to expect. The warmth, kindness and down to earth humor of all the people working at the clinic put me at ease and helped me through the whole process and that is what makes a huge difference to your mindset as a patient and your recovery. The surgeons are very skilled and I would highly recommend them. I’m actually going to miss going in for check ups when I am released as their patient! I am so grateful to them all, they are a very special team!
