I’ve been at war with my double chin and jowls for a few years now. I’ve had both Kybella (5 rounds) and coolsculpting on the area. Between the two, I did see a reduction in overall volume. However, I had loose skin the sagged in the area now. I wanted to see if this could help. I only had it done a few hours ago, and so cannot attest to how well it works (yet). Will continue to update as time goes. For today, wanted to review the procedure and the clinic I had it done in, as well as Dr. Patel. Overall, I felt the experience was amazing. I have no complaints. Dr. Patel was knowledgeable and I felt very confident in her skill and expertise with the equipment. She said they have had Ultherapy since 2015, and they do a ton. Based on my experience, I believe her!! I am a chicken when it comes to pain and had a lot of anxiety going into it. She made sure I was medicated and was reassuring and empathetic the entire time. It took about 1.5 hours and I did just my lower face. The pain was tolerable. The first few passes were fine, but the heat does slowly build up. On the 4.5 level, along the jawline (near the bone) it hurt a lot. In the 3.0 level it didn’t hurt at all. North of my jawbone it didn’t hurt at all. On my neck, where the skin is thin, it hurt a bit there too. Like other reviewers mention, once the machine stops, there is no more pain - it’s brief and tolerable. I used 50mg Tramadol and yoga breathing, and got through it just fine. Take medication! Don’t be a hero. If you’re in the Chicago suburbs, you can’t go wrong with this practice! Updated on 16 Oct 2020: Swollen! But she warned me I would be and so it’s nothing I wasn’t prepared for. Less than kybella but a bit “deeper” of a feeling, if that makes sense. I think there may end ip being some bruising tomorrow, it’s tender and seems like purple is coming in some. Still not concerned, can’t wait to start to see changes. Will post again. Photos are too large, so have to figure that out to add some. Can’t speak to the results yet. So still unsure. But not regretting the procedure or having and side effects that are concerning etc etc. would recommend drinking a lot of water, had a headache last night from the pain medicine I think, not the Ultherapy. Updated on 20 Oct 2020: I have some bruising that was visible on the night of Day 3. It’s only along my jawline, and would easily be covered with light foundation. This website is annoying about photos, the size is always too big! Anyway, my lower face is still a bit sore to touch and a bit swollen. I can see how people have this and freak out a bit. It’s as if the procedure makes it worse before it makes it better. That being said, I have had no side effects that I didn’t anticipate, can’t handle, or find in any way disturbing. It’s not bad, at all. Just impatient for results now. Updated on 2 Nov 2020: Feeling like I’m noticing a bit of a Saran-wrapped thing on my mid-neck (about as low as she went with the machine). I am hoping for more volume loss or tightening along the jawline, but for now I sorta feel like I’m seeing something happen (but maybe it’s wishful thinking). Still have the annoying pocket of fat/skin?? Right under my chin. I swear one day it’ll look smaller, the next it’s back bigger than ever.
I visited Radiance Medspa a month ago for the Ultherapy treatment. I just can’t say enough good things about the people that work there! The fact that Dr. Patel took her time during the consultation to tell me exactly what she had to offer that might address my concerns on my face was so appreciated. Often times, it seems that the doctors are in a very big hurry, and she made me feel like the most important person in the room! Then there’s Tanya: she was my ‘Ultherapy-therapist”, and while this treatment does it sting a bit, she made it completely tolerable with a number of mechanisms to take my mind off of the brief discomfort. And, on top of it, she was very well-versed with all of the products that are offered at the spa that could help me continue taking care of my face and my skin beyond just the visit. I can’t wait to go back for my first appointment comparing the before and after photos! While it typically is said that it will take up to two months to see any initial results, I did notice some immediate skin tightening and the quality of my skin on my neck, forehead and cheeks was immediately apparent. What I have enjoyed over the course of this first month after the treatment is that the extra skin underneath my chin has nearly vanished! This treatment was 100% worth it, and I would definitely love to work with the staff again. I look forward to it!

It hurts, a lot. It's expensive. It doesn't work. Period. You're swollen for at least a full week, embarrasing swollen. There is down time. It just didn't do a thing for me. It was about $4k. A mini face lift and neck lift is $7.5 K.... Updated on 4 Oct 2018: I've posted before and after so you can see that this should treatment should be avoided. See before picture (the day of, before. No deep jowel lines). See 3 months after, deep jowels, uneveness. This isn't natural aging 3 months later. Updated on 4 Oct 2018: Before the treatment is significantly better! I would pay to go back to the before just three months ago! Ultherapy is supposed to make things better over time, not worse. Clearly, this procedure should be avoided. Updated on 5 Oct 2018: Just posting before and after pictures. Here you can see the uneveness and drooping, which happened after treatment ,the before is much better. In the after picture, notice the line from the lips on the right is far more pronounced.
