if its gynaecomastia and its been more than a year that it has persisted... then the only treatment is surgical removal of gland.
BUT
Many a times, the welling on chest or the male boobs is due to excessive fat alone and can be treated with either Gym and exercise or plain Liposuction.

it would be wrong to comment on this based on pictures alone.
all I can tell is either its normal or if in case you can feel hard lump beneath the nipples and areola, you might have grade 1 gynecomastia,
best would be to get your self examined by a nearby doctor and get it confirmed.
even if you have grade 1 - its not a disease. also if you are not bothered about the shape or the look of it, you can stop thinking of it( provided it remains stable)

If all goes normal and as per plan, and you have grade2 or less of Gynaecomazia you can think of it.
Most of my patients are able to go back to normal activity after 1 week and cardio after 2.
I would be concerned about your fitness before hiking not because of surgery, but because of gap in your exercise regimen.
best is to wait out 3 months or 1st go for hike and then get it done.

From the pictures you have posted looks like you have grade 2b GynaecomAstia.
Treatment would be by liposuction plus gland excision.
