Great Experience, #noragrets

I had my primary rhinoplasty back in 2024, so this review is long overdue. That being said, I did want to wait for the swelling to settle, and I'm quite pleased with how things turned out!I landed on Dr. Kwon after doing extensive research on ethnic rhinoplasties within the states, as I was not at all interested in traveling abroad in the name of cutting costs. His style of noses--elevated yet natural--aligned very well with what I was looking for, and the initial consultation confirmed my gut feeling about him. Despite the fact that I'd have to take a couple of weeks off of work to fly to SoCal to get this done, I was determined to get it right the first try (as rhinoplasties are notorious for having high revision rates) and I felt very confident Dr. Kwon could get me to my goal. The surgery itself went well and healing was mostly uneventful. I did develop a bit of a bump near the right ala of my nose about a month after the procedure, due to my skin healing improperly--but Dr. Kwon was able to resolve that with 10 minutes after another flight over to Cali. I do want to stress the importance of finding surgeons who won't gaslight you or immediately abandon you following the surgery, since these complications come up more times than people think. And in many of these cases, it's not necessarily the surgeon's "fault" either--as the healing process is incredibly unpredictable and you never know how your body will react. It's really important to choose a surgeon who'll support you in your journey, no matter what comes up. Suffice to say, I very much appreciated Dr. Kwon's accountability and "can-do" type of attitude (alongside his super friendly personality and excellent surgical skills of course).Additionally, I want to give a shout out to Lilit for being an exceptional patient care coordinator. She helped squeeze me in for an appointment as soon as possible when I contacted her about my post-op concerns, and was super flexible in working with my tight schedule. Despite the EST/PST time difference, I always felt like she was there to hear my concerns out and always responded in a timely fashion!Overall, I'd rate my nose a solid ~90/100. It's not 100% perfect, but it's definitely improved--and Dr. Kwon was very transparent in letting me know what he could and could not do prior to the surgery (so there were no nasty surprises after the fact). I genuinely don't think there's anything I would've done differently about the surgery, so I want to once again thank Dr. Kwon and Lilit for being a great team in helping tackle what used to be one of my biggest insecurities.I will likely be back down the line for additional undereye fat transfer sessions!

The Absolute Best.

Genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better surgeon or a better overall experience. I’ve wanted a rhinoplasty my whole life. I had a flat, wide, bulbous nose with a hump and a downward slope. I’m extremely picky and tend to change my mind as I refine what I want, so choosing the right surgeon was really important to me. I had very specific goals for the overall look I was hoping to achieve — a slightly upturned slope without looking too augmented, a very subtle increase in bridge height, a tip that’s sharper at the top but softly rounded at the bottom, and an overall balance that shortened the appearance of my midface without looking piggy. I also cared a lot about how everything would look from the front, especially the nostril-to-bridge relationship. It’s honestly a lot to balance. Dr. Kwon was very clear about what was actually possible with my nose structure and walked me through the pros and cons of different approaches and how they would visually affect my entire face as a whole, which I really appreciated. Looking at my nose now, I can see how carefully he took every detail we discussed into account. Going into surgery, I was super nervous because I had never been put under before and fully thought I would panic. But once I got there, the nurse and anesthesiologist were genuinely so kind and calming that I was shocked by how at ease I felt. It made a huge difference, and I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Kwon also met with me beforehand to go over everything again and walk through the plan which really helped calm my nerves. Recovery — especially swelling and having patience — was the hardest part. I looked like an avatar for longer than I expected. From my table photos to even around 3 months post op, I still had noticeable swelling at the radix. It really did go down a lot over time and after Dr. Kwon gave me a few Kenalog shots! Even now at 7 months post-op, I still fluctuate from time to time with swelling, especially during my period, but it has definitely stabilized a lot. I’m genuinely so happy with my result and how it has balanced out the rest of my facial features! I also want to shout out Lilit, Dr. Kwon’s patient care coordinator — she is seriously the sweetest. She answered all my questions by text or call and made the whole experience feel much easier. Overall, I feel incredibly happy with my decision to go with Dr. Kwon. I felt very supported throughout every stage and am truly impressed by his attention to detail and artistry. Thank you, Dr. Kwon!!!

Life-Changing Confidence Boost with Dr. Kwon

Getting a rhinoplasty with Dr. Kwon has been one of the best decisions I have made. For context I am from out of state and have never had surgery before. I initially had a virtual consultation and Dr. Kwon was super kind and answered all my questions thoughtfully. I also had a second consult in person with Dr. Kwon and I immediately knew what that he was the right surgeon to do my rhinoplasty with. He is very knowledgeable, understood my vision, addressed my concerns, and definitely does not have a one size fits all approach. I wanted a natural result that enhanced my face, and Dr. Kwon is such a visionary and so skilled in his profession. During my recovery Lilit was around via text to address any of my questions. For the first week I had splints in my nose and had to breathe through my mouth for most of the time. I also had stitches on ear and scalp. The recovery process was super smooth. I would say the most uncomfortable part was getting the stitches and splints out. The biggest change during recovery was that I had to sleep on my back for the first few weeks. At the two week mark I had my cast removal. At first I was slightly frightened with how avatarish my nose looked. However, Dr. Kwon had let me know beforehand this was normal and the nose bridge would be the first to come down. I totally trusted Dr. Kwon’s vision and before I knew it at around the 4-6 week mark my nose bridge swelling came down. Now at the 5 month mark I’m already thrilled with my results! I wouldn’t have done a rhinoplasty with anyone else.

DCF Rhinoplasty and Upper Blepharoplasty

I relied on reviews when researching surgeons, and reading reviews also helped to soothe my nerves right before my procedure, so here goes mine. Dr. Kwon did my primary rhinoplasty and upper blepharoplasty in February 2025. I was an out-of-country patient and initially consulted with other surgeons as well. From my own research I concluded DCF to be the best option for me personally. As solid rib grafts can warp over time, I excluded this option. I also have a history of my body rejecting piercings and I did not want to find out how I would react to artificial implants like silicone or Gore-Tex. In my country (and even region) there are not many surgeons with extensive experience in DCF rhinoplasties, so I was willing to go abroad. Additionally, I wanted natural and subtle results, so the margin of error was small for both the surgeon and me. In a sense I wanted to maximize my chances of my surgery being a one and done deal, and by choosing dr. Kwon, I believe the both of us succeeded. When I researched surgeons specializing in DCF rhinoplasties, I came across dr. Kwon’s website and immediately liked his before and after photos, and more specifically, his natural aesthetic. At my first consultation with dr. Kwon, we discussed aesthetic goals and techniques. I then e-mailed Lilit to schedule a second consultation because I had a few additional practical questions. After that consultation I committed formally, and my procedure was scheduled for 2-3 months later. There were different factors that set dr. Kwon apart from the other surgeons I consulted with. I have read many horror stories on the internet about patients who had less-than-stellar rhinoplasty results but whose surgeons would not admit to anything being technically off and would therefore refuse to perform a revision. After asking him about it, dr. Kwon explained his revision policy and I also read a review from a patient stating that dr. Kwon did perform a revision on her. I knew that there are many factors, some of which may be external, that influence rhinoplasty results, and unexpected things can show up even with the most experienced surgeons. It did put my mind at ease knowing that dr. Kwon could help me with a revision if I ended up needing one. When I pictured the scenario of being on the operation table and some (aesthetic) choices needed to be made that for some reason could not be discussed in advance, I wanted dr. Kwon to be the one making those decisions for me. Though there was not anything wrong with the other surgeon I consulted with, I aligned more with dr. Kwon’s aesthetic philosophy. Before flying to the US, I had pre-surgery blood work done in my country and sent the results to dr. Kwon’s office. I had a pre-op consultation in Newport Beach a few days prior to the procedure where I signed standard documents and consent forms. I also showed dr. Kwon some inspiration photos and examples of what I did not want. On the day of the surgery, performed in Newport Beach, I was very nervous which – in hindsight – was unnecessary. Everyone at the surgery center was very good at their jobs and everything seemed to be streamlined. After checking in at the reception, I was assigned a nurse (Molly, if I remember correctly) who guided me to my bed in the recovery room, did a pregnancy test and placed an IV in my thin veins in one take! Molly was so nice, clearly experienced and took good care of me the whole time I was there (if I remember correctly, she was also with me in the OR, alongside dr. Kwon, the anesthesiologist and surgical tech). I was especially nervous to be put under general anesthesia, but the anesthesiologist took time to answer my questions. Dr. Kwon marked my eyes for the upper bleph portion of the procedure. Things then went very quickly: before I knew it, I was in the OR, then on the operation table, and not a minute passed before I was under anesthesia. My procedure was quite lengthy, I believe 7 hours, but I was of course not aware of time and space. The first thing I remember is waking up in the recovery room and asking Molly (I really hope that is actually her name) if I died under anesthesia and her saying “no” :) The procedure went very well, and my recovery afterwards was standard. I had a family member taking care of me, but they could only arrive a few days after my procedure, so I spent the time in between in a recovery facility. For those interested, I had a good experience at Laguna Village Recovery and can recommend them. The first week post-op was difficult as I was recovering from the procedure (and effects of the anesthesia) and taking my prescribed medication. After one week, dr. Kwon removed the stints from my nose and stitches. After another week, my cast came off and I flew home the next day. My nose was very swollen at my cast removal, which was quite frightening but even then, I could see the intended vision. Lilit sent me some table photos of my nose before and right after the procedure and I was over the moon with my results! I pulled up these pictures whenever I felt frustrated with my swelling. After cast removal, my swelling got worse, before eventually getting better. I noticed a sudden decrease in swelling at around 4 months post-op. At around 6 months post-op I had an in-person consultation where dr. Kwon administered a small dose of Kenalog in the tip of my nose. At about 6 months post-op, I am halfway through my healing journey, and I am already thrilled with the results! Even though my procedure went as well as it could have, and my recovery was nothing out of the ordinary, I experienced some challenges along the way (most of which are just inherent to plastic surgery): 1) Swelling. While I knew, intellectually, that it takes at least 1 year to see the results, having to wait that long turned out to be more difficult than I expected. As I was seeking a natural rhinoplasty, having any amount of swelling was quite unsettling as it gave the impression of a more dramatic nose job. On top of that, my swelling was very asymmetrical which gave my nose a crooked appearance. Some days I had additional swelling in the columella region which gave my nose a droopy appearance. I am not exaggerating when I say I looked like a baked potato! At the 3rd month mark my swelling got even worse as my radix area expanded up to my eyes which gave me an extraterrestrial appearance. Mind you, this whole time I was taping my nose constantly and steering clear of things like salt and alcohol. Around 4 months post-op I started noticing an improvement in my radix. The swelling then remained present in the lower half of my nose. At around 6 months post-op I received a small dose of Kenalog injections in my tip which helped with the swelling in that area. I have another 6 months to go before I can see the final result, so I know my nose will change a lot. I do have residual swelling, but that amount is appropriate for this stage. All this is to say that while I technically looked presentable (not bruised) after cast removal (so two weeks after the procedure), it was still too early for me to completely return to my normal social activities. The swelling could have been mistaken for a more dramatic nose job and I was not quite comfortable yet. I also asked for a very subtle upper bleph, and most of the swelling went away within the first two weeks (unevenly though, as one eye ‘dropped’ faster than the other). The crease was of course still red and bumpy, and looked to be cut too deeply. This also improved over the next months, but very slowly. At around 5 months post-op my crease started to look better, and the scar is now barely visible. As my scars keep maturing, the skin above my fold falls more ‘naturally’. I can now say that dr. Kwon gave me exactly was I was looking for. Again, while I was technically presentable about two weeks post-op, I still looked like I had something done, and it took some time before I could go about my usual routine. 2) This one is self-inflicted: I opted for a nose graft using my own rib cartilage instead of a donor rib. While I am still happy with this choice, I have to say I underestimated the pain. I had to rely on someone to help me get up because I could not lean on any side or arm without causing impact on my rib. This pain could be managed with medication and luckily the pain only lasted for about 4 days after which I no longer needed any pain medication. The rib graft was the most painful part of my recovery. The cut was made under my right breast, in the crease, so it is not noticeable. There is still a (small) scar there, but it keeps getting better over time. 3) I was lucky to not have any complications, so I did not have to fly all the way to the US to manage anything. It is however one of the risks of going abroad for surgery but one I was willing to take. I had an online consultation a few months after the procedure, and it was confirmed that my nose looked appropriate for that stage of the healing process. Especially in the beginning of my recovery, I had quite a few questions, which Lilit helped me with over text or e-mail. I am so glad I trusted dr. Kwon with my face, and I am thrilled with my results which (if everything goes according to plan) will get even better in the next months.

Natural, Balanced Asian Rhinoplasty – I’m So Glad I Trusted Dr. Edwin Kwon

I had my rhinoplasty done by Dr. Edwin Kwon and I truly couldn’t be happier with the outcome. From the first consultation, he was honest, realistic, and incredibly knowledgeable, ESPECIALLY when it came to Asian facial anatomy. I came in with a bunch of reference photos of noses I thought would look good on me, and he helped me understand that many of those examples were heavily edited or enhanced with makeup. He brought the conversation back to what would actually suit my face and age well in real life, not on Instagram. What impressed me most was how he didn’t try to give me a generic “perfect nose.” Instead, he preserved the natural structure of my features while refining the areas that needed support and balance. He understood how to work with thicker skin and softer cartilage, which is so important for Asian rhinoplasty. My result looks incredibly natural, refined but not obvious, and still very me. Most people can’t even tell I had surgery, and I take that as a huge compliment. I’ve seen others go back for tweak after tweak and end up with a nose that looks overdone or disconnected from the rest of their face. I knew I didn’t want that, and Dr. Kwon made sure I didn’t fall into that trap. I didn’t need revisions, fillers, or extra sculpting because he got it right the first time. If you’re Asian and looking for a surgeon who understands how to enhance without erasing your identity, I couldn’t recommend Dr. Kwon more. He’s direct, thoughtful, and truly gifted at what he does.

Dr. Kwon is the Best Rhinoplasty Surgeon Period.

I’ll be completely transparent, honest and straight forward. I’m a plastic surgery freak trans woman that has been everywhere around the world for plastic surgery. I’ve had 5 rhinoplasty and after lots of trauma, BAD HABITS and an unfortunate accident, my nose literally collapsed and I had a really bad case of Janet Jackson syndrome lol. With that being said - I went to many surgeons and Dr. Kwon is your best option for rhinoplasty. I do believe he is the better well rounded surgeon but I can only speak about his talent with rhinoplasty. My case was very complex - ethnic, collapsed and needed some reconstruction of the nose. He genuinely cares. He remembered details about me I don’t even remember telling him lol. I don’t really care for bedside manner, I’m leaving an honest review about how truly talented he is and how much joy he’s brought to my life. I was walking around being stared at tons, it was horrifying. This rhinoplasty has done so much for not only my transition but my life alone. He turned it natural but feminine. I’m so obsessed. I attached before photos and after.

The Best of the Best and the Kindest Physician

Dr. Kwon is an amazing surgeon in all ways. A little bit of backstory: I had gone to a prominent surgeon in Miami for a breast augmentation a few years ago only to have multiple complications and two surgeries with an end result I wasn’t happy with. After having two bad experiences with that other surgeon I had placed trust in, I was very nervous to go through a second revision. There are so many plastic surgeons in Los Angeles, so it felt very overwhelming speaking to so many different people and getting so many different opinions. From the moment I met Dr. Kwon and his assistant Lilit, I felt so at ease and knew they were different. They were personable, validating, kind, knowledgeable, and gave me so much time to ask all the questions I had. Dr. Kwon really cares about his patients and the end result. He was different from every other surgeon I encountered in that he was confident and patient but in no way egotistical. He gave me the natural result I always dreamed of, and wish he was my surgeon from the beginning! I ever need any other plastic surgery in the future, I will definitely be going back to him!

Top Favorite Things I've Ever Done for Myself

Hello! Lengthy and overdue review ahead: Dr. Kwon performed my breast augmentation in August 2024, and I’ve been meaning to write a review. Dr. Kwon originally performed my rhinoplasty in 2021, so I’ve had a long relationship with him + Lilit. I consulted with a few surgeons for my breast aug, and Dr. Kwon was always my top choice. First, I already trusted him: he is incredibly brilliant, patient, knowledgeable, kind, personable, and understanding… and his results speak for themselves. Lilit is simply amazing too. She’s a beautiful person inside and out—responsive, professional, caring, everything you could ask for. Trust me, many doctors will abandon you post-op but they’re not like that—I’ve probably been to Dr. Kwon’s office more than my hair salon. TRANSAXILLARY APPROACH When planning my breast aug, I always wanted the transaxillary approach. Thanks to his technique and the scar tape he recommended, my armpit scars on the left side have been invisible since 6 months post-op. Since the goal is to enhance the look of the breast overall, I was pretty against having visible scars underneath my breasts… and I’ve seen scars from the nipple approach, and those look scary to me too. Dr. Kwon is one of the few plastic surgeons who performs this approach, and that's just one of the reasons he was my top choice. I'm so glad I went with my instincts and didn't compromise on this. SIZING I’m super grateful to Dr. Kwon for helping me choose the implant size—I sent a large pdf of ideal photos, and he is exceptionally talented at delivering exactly what I wanted. He recommended 240cc moderate profile plus on both sides, and that’s what we went with. Before I was totally flat, and now I’m a 32C/34C depending on the brand. The look is exactly what I wanted. My goal was to still fit into the same clothes, keep up an active lifestyle, hide them when I want to, and still feel like myself. Simultaneously, I wanted to go big enough to be worth the money + surgery and fill out my favorite tops: bikinis, halters, sports bras, etc. All my clothes look better now with boobs. Everyone says "go bigger" but I think there is such a thing as "too big"—my size is perfect, but I wouldn't go bigger. If I were giving advice, I'd personally rather risk going a little too small than too big, but my frame is also smaller and that's my personal preference. RECOVERY Surgery day went smoothly. His entire team is professional and offered the most comfortable process possible. I wasn’t very nervous because I’d been through the process before. Out of all the procedures I’ve had done, I’d say breast augmentation was the most uncomfortable. The first week was extremely difficult—you definitely need someone to take care of you the first 24 hours. The pain medication he prescribes helps a lot, but in my opinion, it will always be difficult going under the muscle since your chest muscles affect almost every movement. After about a week, I felt okay to walk around, and after 3 weeks, I stopped feeling the implant inside my chest. The recovery moved quickly after ~3-4 weeks. After 8 months, I barely feel them in my body anymore—only during specific chest-heavy movements, like push-ups. RESULTS My breasts looked great even 4 weeks out of surgery—photo attached. Now, it’s been almost 9 months, and I’m super happy with them. This is perhaps my second-best life decision (first was my rhinoplasty)! I've dreamed about a figure like this since I was in middle school, and I'm so proud of myself for saving up and finally doing this for myself. I feel like a powerful WOMAN—like the Bratz doll I've always envisioned inside my head. I’m in my late twenties, but before my breast augmentation, I felt mentally stuck as a middle school girl. And exercising won't help with that. They look SO feminine and natural and fit me perfectly—I told a few girlfriends I got them done, and they said they didn’t even notice. Once, someone even said in casual conversation in front of me how they "hate fake boobs" as they didn't realize mine were fake... so funny. Lastly, sometimes when I'm in a bad mood, I remember I have perfect c-cups, and I feel instantly better. TLDR: My body feels like the best version of the real ME. If you want peace of mind for your best-ever results, go with Dr. Kwon. You won’t regret it.

Dr Kwon Has the Hands of a Sculptor. LOVE His Work!

I had chin augmentation with Dr Kwon in 2024, it's been almost a year. His work is so natural, no one could tell if I had my chin done, even a week after the surgery. The healing process went smoothly, it was so painful on the 2nd day, it felt like my face was about the explode, but by the 3rd day the swelling subsided significantly. I had the incision inside the mouth, I was on liquid diet the first 2 days, after that I resume to normal diet but I avoided tough and chewy food for a month. My chin was tender for 1-2 months, couldn't do some yoga poses that put pressure on my chin for 3 months. The chin was 100% healed after 6 months. I think my jawline definition and projection are so perfect now. I'm SO SO HAPPY with Dr Kwon's work. He truly understands what beauty is and gave me the perfect chin which is proportionate and balance with the rest of my facial features. If I want any facial enhancements in the future, I would just go to him.

That’s exactly what I was hoping for—a subtle, refined improvement that enhances my features without looking obvious. The staff here are amazing—patient, professional, and thorough. From the initial consultation, the consultant walked me through all the details, explaining the procedure and pricing clearly. The nurse was extremely skilled and designed a treatment plan that complemented my face shape perfectly. The whole experience was smooth, and I felt confident and well taken care of.
