I’m a 57 year old woman of color and in my culture it is still tabu to get cosmetic enhancers. I have worked in the beauty industry for over 25 years and I know how important it is to my clientele to leave out feeling better at the end of the service. I was researching for a woman for over two years when I came across MedSpaCT-Samara on social media. I followed her for a year and decided to take a chance. I found Samara to be kind, knowledgeable, artistic and inviting. Most of all she was able to address concerns I’ve had for years. I have referred her to all of my friends and some clients, she is highly recommended.
Client since 2019. Spent $20,000 + on various services including microneedling, radiofrequency, injections and even appeared in a TV spot getting threads. I had a negative experience as part of the monthly skincare membership in which I had a laser appt scheduled with a nurse I had seen before and had an established relationship.. Upon arriving I was told I would actually be seeing the man behind the front desk without any further explanation. I felt as if I was just randomly walking into a providers office without any knowledge of who I was seeing. Only because I followed Samara on Instagram was I aware this man was a nurse. He never provided me any information that he was an RN or had any experience with the laser in question. Considering for the past year I had only seen him complete front desk activities I think it is beyond fair that I wanted to know what background this guy who would be using a laser on my face had! I explained my concerns that I only signed up for the service after meeting with the other nurse who was familiar not only with my history but had received the laser treatment herself. I went ahead with the treatment after raising my concerns and scheduled a follow up treatment. Unfortunately, the nurse insisted on addressing "my attitude" from my previous appointment despite my repeated attempts to just drop it and move on. Instead, he continued to insist he wanted to check in with me since my attitude seemed so unlike me. Well, actually it was not unlike me. I am spending a lot of my hard earned money for someone to put a laser to my face, I have every right to know the credentials and experience of the provider. After this confrontation, I decided I had spent too much money at this office to be made to feel bad for asking questions. My decision to terminate had nothing to do with the nurse being male, but instead the feeling that I have no rights as a paying customer to choose the provider I want to see or ask questions if I'm not feeling comfortable. The best part of all of this is that upon calling to cancel both my VIP and skincare memberships, the response was for Samara to get on Instagram and very clearly mock me. Rather than be professional and reach out to discuss the issue, Samara immediately took to her Instagram and begin venting about customers being crazy and freaking the [RS bleep] out because of a male nurse. She then went on to say she didn't care if anyone had a problem with the male nurse. How sad and ironic that my problem had nothing to do with gender but instead overall professionalism and customer service. If you want to spend money and then be mocked on social media have fun!
