I’ve been extremely self conscious about the cellulite on the back of my legs forever. I have already tried cool sculpting which didn’t have great results. My medspa was running a special for emtone and qwo so I decided to give it a try. I have not started qwo because I have a vacation coming up soon and I wasn’t sure if the bruising would be healed by then. Everything I’ve read about emtone says that it takes several treatments for results and that it feels like a hot stone massage with vibration. I was advised to make sure I was well hydrated prior to my appointment to decrease the sensitivity/pain during treatment which I did. Upon arrival, I change into the provided paper shorts and laid in a prone position on the table. A grounding pad was applied to my lower back and freezing cold gel was applied to the treatment area. I was informed that the machine will go for a certain amount of time then shut off for a cool down break and then continue again. Each leg would be treated at the same settings for the same amount of time. When the treatment starts, it is a bit startling because you expect a slight vibration but the sensation is much stronger like the pop of a rubber band without the sting. I knew that it would get warm, supposedly like a hot stone massage, but it would be more appropriate to compare it to having a blowtorch applied to your skin in circular patterns. I kept trying to tell myself beauty is pain but my brain was telling my body to get the hell out of there. After just a few minutes, I got to the point to where I could only stand the treatment for 30 seconds or so at a time so she kept having to stop and start. It was embarrassing and I was really trying to not be a crybaby, refocus my attention, breathe through the pain, but my body thought we were being tortured. My skin was bright red and felt sunburned. When we finally made it through that 15 minutes of hell, it was time for the other leg. Now I will say that my other leg was not nearly as sensitive and I was able to go much longer between breaks. It was nowhere near pleasant but it wasn’t as torturous as the first leg. The nurse said she did not change the settings or anything but that pretty much everyone has one side of their body with more pain receptors. I did ask about topical lidocaine for the treatment area but the nurse said that they need you to tell them when it is getting too hot so that you don’t get burned. Both of my legs were bright red and swollen looking leaving the medspa and I felt a bit nauseous and had a slight headache but I was not in any pain. The redness subsided by the next morning and over the week I did not notice any change from the treatment. I just finished my second treatment and I would say it went exactly the same although I did pre-hydrate much more and had 2L of water today prior to my appointment. Unfortunately, I was not able to tolerate the procedure any better. Leaving the office I felt nauseated and had a slight headache. I am trying to be optimistic that emtone will be worth the pain and I will see great improvements but time will tell. There is very little information available about emtone besides what is posted from the company so hopefully my experience will help educate others on what to expect should you follow through with this treatment. I will post my before and after photos when I have completed the treatments at the end of this month.
What a wonderful office that offers cutting edge technology in non-surgical facial and body rejuvenation. I received the best care from Lyric Le,RN who listened to my concerns and developed a progressive treatment plan prior to my wedding! I have had facial injections for years but will not be going anywhere else ever again, I am so happy to find an injectable specialist who is also an artist and provides excellent aesthetic results. She uses the most state of the art techniques to lessen bruising and provide the safest results! I could not be happier with my Kybella and Filler results!
