Dr. Hanke is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in the treatment of skin cancer and dermatologic surgery. He founded the Micrographic Surgery-Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship Training Program at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. Dr. Hanke achieved distinction as Professor of Dermatology, Pathology and Otolaryngology at Indiana University and was the first physician in the United States to earn the triple professorship. He is a frequent lecturer in the United States and Europe and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology. Dr. Hanke is listed in Best Doctors in America and America’s Top Doctors. Dr. Hanke is board-certified by six specialty boards (Dermatology-ABMS, Dermatopathology-ABMS, Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery-ABMS, Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology – Independent, Laser Surgery – Independent, and Facial Cosmetic Surgery- Independent). He has authored or coauthored more than 400 journal articles and 26 books in the medical literature.
