Lawrence Iteld, MD
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Lawrence Iteld is a highly regarded, board-certified plastic surgeon and the founder of Iteld Plastic Surgery in Chicago. He offers a broad range of surgical procedures using cutting-edge techniques, as well as nonsurgical aesthetic procedures for men and women. “My goal is to design individualized treatment plans that help my patients achieve long-lasting, natural results,” says Dr. Iteld. With a strong emphasis on patient safety, Dr. Iteld offers narcotics-free surgery for most procedures. This includes all breast procedures (including male breast reduction), tummy tucks, liposuction, Brazilian butt lifts, and arm, thigh, and body lifts. A carefully planned approach that Dr. Iteld spent years perfecting, narcotics-free surgery reduces the need for prescription pain management, improving recovery time and results. “At Iteld Plastic Surgery, our philosophy is to prevent pain before it occurs,” explains Dr. Iteld. “This removes the need for opioid-narcotics during recovery.” His technique includes the use of anti-inflammatory medications, anti-nausea drugs, and long-lasting local anesthetics. Together, they allow you to recover with only mild discomfort, which can be alleviated by over-the-counter medication. After graduating magna cum laude from Rutgers College, Dr. Iteld earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan School of Medicine, graduating with distinction in medical research. He completed a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals, and a fellowship in oncologic and microvascular reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s department of plastic surgery. Dr. Iteld is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Illinois Society of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Iteld is a clinical associate in plastic surgery at the University of Chicago. Before returning to Chicago, Dr. Iteld was an assistant professor of plastic surgery at the University of Miami. A member of the RealSelf 100 & 500 Hall of Fame, Dr. Iteld has also been recognized as a top doctor by Chicago Magazine and Castle Connolly.

275cc, mods, overs, 35 y/o, 125lbs, 5'5, 2 kids, 32A

A long time coming, the goal being to look proportionate and go from an A to a small C at the most. It’s more so about the look than the final cup size though! I have forever desired boobs, since I was a teenager! Just never happened for me. Dr. Iteld’s team was great and patient with me. I was eternally toying between 250, 275, 295 cc (with the understanding that what they put into your bod...

Achieved the natural look I wanted

I am very impressed with Dr. Iteld and his office. I had both breast augmentation and liposuction. First of all, he is an excellent surgeon who listened to my concerns and wishes. He achieved the natural look I wanted. Secondly, his approach to an opioid free breast augmentation helped control my pain better than a friend who had opioids for her surgery. Thirdly, I was very impressed that his...

Q: Would Morpheus8 minimize the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles? 73 y/o (photo)
Answered by Kimmy Vu, BSN, RNFebruary 28, 2024

A: Based on this photo, there are multiple factors causing the "deep wrinkles, fallen facial areas, deep lines around mouth". Although laxity (which you see as loose skin) is certainly one of those factors, we are also seeing loss of volume and support from structures under your skin, which is contributing to the downward shift and those deeper folds. Morpheus 8 can help you with the laxity by stimulating new collagen production, increasing skin quality, and tightening, to an extent, over series of treatments, but it won't replace your lost volume, and it can't reposition your skin (that is facelift territory).
Imagine a mattress that has been slept on in the same spots for 45 years and now you can see the indentations or areas with the most use. This is the structure under your skin. The sheet that started out fitted is now looser after 45 years and can't tuck in anymore the way it was when new. No matter how unwrinkled the sheet on top, you will still be able to see unevenness. If you increase the skin quality (example a thin blanket over the top) it will do a better job of hiding these hills and valleys but it still won't hide the fallen areas since it just lays on top.
Depending on how much improvement you want to achieve and your expectations, I think you'd be a great surgical candidate if you wanted to choose that path. However, if minimally invasive is your preference, then you would have a better result by combining Morpheus8 (at least 4-6 sessions) with other treatments such as fillers or fat transfer to address volume loss.

Q: 350cc high profile or 325cc moderate profile for natural look? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. IteldOctober 3, 2023

A: Two of the most common questions I see on this forum are: -Which profile should I choose? -Should I get size “A” or size “B” implants (typically very close in size)? In the vast majority of cases, the end result will be very similar between any of the options that your surgeon offers. With regard to profile, the differences between high and moderate plus (or moderate, depending on the brand) for a similar volume is less than a half inch across and a quarter inch in projection. If you are bumping up against your maximum base diameter, it is likely better to go with a slightly narrower, and higher profile, device, and vice versa. With regard to volume, remember that 30cc is only two tablespoons and with the average implant of 300-350cc, this is less than 10% difference. Also, remember that your native breast has some volume so going up or down by 20-30cc will be less than 5-8% difference- virtually nothing. One of the most powerful tools with 3D simulations is that most patients DON’T see a significant change when going up or down one implant size or one profile as long as the volumes are about the same. Trust your surgeon’s recommendation as long as you are in the size range that you like. They know which implant will fit best.

Q: Do I need a fleur de lis tummy tuck? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. IteldOctober 3, 2023

A: A fluer-de-lis is recommended for patients who have excess tissue both vertically and horizontally, as demonstrated in these images. A traditional tummy tuck will remove the vertical excess but will leave some transverse laxity. For some patients this is an acceptable result since the scar burden is lower. For others, they are willing to accept the additional scar to get the best contour. The choice is very individual. Please discuss with your surgeon(s).

Q: Asymmetrical face - what might be causing this? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. IteldOctober 3, 2023

A: Facial asymmetry is universal- everyone has some degree of variation between the left and right sides of their face. If there are significant changes over time, it is important to rule out an infection or mass (which was done). When patients desire to decrease the asymmetry, filler are the most common technique used. It is important to remember that we can decrease asymmetry, not eliminate it. Good luck

Q: 30s, severe asymmetry after 2 pregnancies & breastfeeding, what would be the best surgical procedure?
Answered by Dr. IteldOctober 2, 2023

A: Breast asymmetry is very common, even this amount of difference. There are several options, but most patients will choose to have an implant placed on the right (and maybe a smaller implant on the left), and a breast lift on the left to get the breasts more even. An experienced Plastic Surgeon will be able to go through the surgery in more detail. You are a great candidate.
