The procedure was much easier than I expected. The doctor did pre-numbing of the area which was done with only tiny needles and did not hurt very much. After that she used much larger needles to put about 4 large syringes of lidocaine and epinephrine solution under my skin. Because of the pre-numbing I did not feel most of this - only a small burning sensation occasionally. It was not exactly pleasant, but not very painful either - and I do not have a high pain tolerance. The actual procedure was almost completely painless. On most areas I did not feel anything at all. I did feel about 3 of the treatment areas. It was enough of a burning feeling to get my attention, but it only lasted a couple of seconds. The provider can cut the heating off at any time. I would just make her aware that I could feel it and she would be prepared to press the stop button if needed, but it goes by so quickly I never had to tell her to stop. I had my procedure done at 3pm. I started icing immediately after the procedure and taking Advil. My arms remained numb that whole night. When I woke the next morning (I woke at regular time - was not kept awake or woken up by any pain) I was more swollen and could feel some soreness. I had heard it would feel like a severe sunburn, but I really would describe it as only a mild sunburn. I continued to ice and went to work that day. I made it fine at work, but I did not want anyone to know I had this procedure done, so I was unable to ice as much as I should. By that night I was quite swollen and uncomfortable. The discomfort is not really from pain so much as the swelling just makes your arms feel uncomfortable. It feels like if you wadded up a large pair of socks and stuck them under your arms. It's not very painful, but it's just uncomfortable. I kept icing and taking the Advil as directed. Even at the worst I still kept going with my daily activities without much distraction. It is not any more painful or uncomfortable than sore muscles or something like that would be. Very tolerable. By the next morning the swelling had gone down some and was not as uncomfortable. The picture posted is of this day. As you can see it does not look that bad, but it felt bigger than it looked. I never had much bruising or lumpiness like some people describe. The second night was the worst part of it and I blame that mostly on me not icing enough while at work. It still was not very bad at all. Each day there is less and less swelling. I am a week out now and only have minimal swelling. It I poke under my arm it still feels tender, but most of the time I don't feel any discomfort at all. I only took off the day of the procedure. I worked the next day and then went on a 5 day vacation that was filled with hiking and lots of activity and I made it just fine. I iced continually on day 1 about 15 minutes every 30 minutes. Day 2 I iced when I could at work (not enough), and then every 30 minutes when I got home until bedtime. Day 3 I iced about 10 minutes every hour during the day and then less at night. Day 4 I iced when I woke up and before bed for about 10 minutes. After that I did not feel the need to ice anymore. So far I have no sweating. I know it can come back after about a month and require a second treatment. Initially I was afraid I would not be able to make myself go back for a second treatment if it was painful, but after going through it I would have no problems going back for a second treatment if needed. If this procedure really does reduce sweating by about 80% it will be WELL WORTH IT! Before the procedure I did not sweat more than anyone else when exercising, etc, but I would sweat under my arms constantly even when I was cold. I had to wear tank tops under my shirts and be careful about what colors and fabrics I would buy because of this issue. It has been so nice to be able to wear whatever I want with no concerns about sweating! I really hope this continues!! I will report back in a couple months with the final results! Updated on 17 Apr 2018: My last review was posted a week after treatment. As I described, I hardly had any discomfort at all by then. After 2 weeks I had no discomfort or tenderness at all. After about 2 weeks some sweating returned. It is no where near the amount of sweating I initially had. I still sweat a bit for no reason (even when I'm cold), but it is minimized enough that I can wear ALMOST anything I want without worry. I had one shirt that I could never wear before Miradry. It was thin and light blue and tight under the arms and always left large, obvious sweat marks. I recently wore it to put Miradry to the test. After a long day in warm weather I only had a faint sweat mark that would likely not be noticed by anyone. Overall it has made a huge improvement. I still have to wear deodorant (natural, not antiperspirant) and still have some sweating. I have scheduled a second treatment in a few weeks in hopes for a little more improvement. I am still thrilled with the results from just one treatment though! I would highly recommend Miradry. It has been wonderful to buy whatever fabrics and colors I want without worry.
I'm 35 and have stubborn cystic acne that had finally been under control for the last ~2 years, but had a flare up. I also have yucky red capillaries around the bottom and sides of my nose, and my nose tends to stay red. The technician was great. It did hurt pretty bad. If I get this again, I'll try to take strong pain killers right before. The capillaries completely disappeared, which was amazing, but now a couple of them have come back, and it's only been 2 days!
