Q Does the scalp reattach to the skull after hairline lowering procedure?

A Hello, The scalp is lifted in between 2 structures, the periosteum is the layer just over the bone and the galea. After the forehead advancement these 2 areas heal down to one another again. There is some numbness associated with this procedure but once this improves the scalp feels completely normal to patients.

Facelift

Q How Should You Sleep and Take Care of Your Skin After a Facelift?

A For the first 2 nights it is recommended you sleep with your head elevated to minimize swelling. You may use a travel pillow to support your neck or a soft towel. This will help decrease the amount of post-operative swelling while healing. You may shower approximately 48 hours after a facelift but it should be kept brief. Using a gentle face wash once a day will keep your skin clean until you are able to resume your skin care regimen.

Facelift

Q How Much Does a Facelift Cost?

A A facelift can average $10k to $18k depending whether you have a midface facelift that includes jowls and cheeks or a full facelift that includes the cheeks, jowls and neck. Also depends what part of the country you live in. There can be additional fees for anesthesia and surgery center facility use. The cosmetic coordinator can break down the fess for you. Short scar or mini facelifts work well for many younger patients. This technique involves incisions within the temporal or sideburn hairline, extending along the front of the ear and ending just behind the earlobe. Deep plane facelifts are best for people with more significant facial aging. This technique requires an incision that extends from the earlobe around the back of the ear and ending in the hairline behind the ear. The longer incision allows Dr. Olson greater ability to correct the neck.

Rhinoplasty

Q Sun bathed three months after rhinoplasty, will this cause permanent swelling?

Hello,

For the first few months after rhinoplasty any activity that causes swelling of the nose will be more pronounced than before surgery. This can include sun exposure. Depending on time of day an hour or two of sun exposure can be significant. It is unlikely that you caused any long-term problems with your nose. Check in with your surgeon. Good luck.

Rhinoplasty

Q Clicking noise in columella when moving upper lip side to side?

Hello,

As you know this problem can certainly happen when a columellar strut graft is placed but is a bit unusual without. I suspect the clicking is related to the inferior aspect of the septum moving against the underlying bone. Please get back to your surgeon and hopefully they can identify the culprit. I think there might be a relatively easy fix for this issue if it does not improve on its own. Good Luck!
