"Your 'before' photos look like they should be your 'after' photos, and your 'after' photos look like they should be your 'before' photos. The filler placed in your cheeks was absolutely placed in the WRONG location. It's pulling your nasolabial folds down, your nose out (making it wider) and creating a shelf of cheek that makes your eyes look sunken. There is no doubt that you were over-filled, and the filler was placed in the wrong location to begin with. There is NEVER a circumstance where filler should be injected into the apples of the cheeks, no matter your age." - Lynley K. "Midface filler should be placed over the malar bone and zygomatic arch and it looks like the filler was placed too low into the cheek....the purpose (of corrective filler needed near the malar bone) would be to lift the cheek as the radiesse was placed too low causing is to hang." - John Burns, MD, Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, consulted 2 weeks following injection and again at 3 weeks with corrective filler. I'm 39 years old and had never had fillers or Botox before. My husband and I are small business owners, and I absolutely hate leaving negative reviews about local businesses. But with this, I'm going to make an exception. Choosing The Face Place to receive filler and Jeauveu was one of the worse decisions of my life. The above are the same prognosis of two separate physicians whom I had to consult with following the awful experience I had from receiving a filler of Radiesse in the wrong location on my face at The Face Place. I went to The Face Place for a consultation the week of July 30th--which also happened to be the week prior to a long-awaited, 10-year wedding anniversary trip to the Caribbean with my husband. This was our first trip since we had children, and we would be there one week. The reviews online for this med spa seemed good for many different antiaging treatments, and it was located just down the road from my house. I'm a very busy mother of young children, and it seemed like a good decision at the time to have a SMALL injection prior to our trip in order to take a few years off, and to look my best. My priority was for the lines around my mouth to be softened without placing filler there--yet. And for the wrinkles in my four head to be decreased with Botox (or a similar product). I specifically requested that filler be placed in my UPPER cheekbone area in order to lift the nasolabial folds around my mouth, as I had seen plastic surgeons do, with natural results. I was emphatic that I wanted to ease into fillers, as I had never had fillers or Botox before. I wanted a VERY natural look. I wear very little makeup and did not want to look fake or overfilled. Donna, the director, strongly suggested that I try Radiesse to lift those lines, because it not only acted as a filler, but it promoted collagen. Great! I agreed. I paid $2800 for a package that included Jeauveu (like Botox), Radiesse and microneedling. They injected the Jeauveu that day and I went in two days later for the Radiesse, and would have the microneedling done after my trip since I would be exposed to the sun on my vacation. I wrongly assumed that Radiesse was like all of the others, and that it was reversible. I was dead wrong. I was numbed, and the nurse, Chrissie, started to inject my cheeks in the upper area on the left side. Then she pricked the lower cheek (apple) area--and I asked her if it was normal to be injected there. She said "yes", that she was just evening it out. I left looking VERY swollen, and when I asked about it that same evening, Chrissie said that this was normal and to wait 4-5 days. Fast forward 4 days later, and I still look like I have HUGE chipmunk cheeks. I started researching the product to see what could be done. To my horror, I discovered that Radiesse is not reversible, and that the effects can last up to 18 months!! This was a nightmare. I took multiple photos, and in every photo, my eyes look sunken in, my apples of my cheeks look huge, and the lines around my mouth have not decreased one single bit. They even look deeper! I called the office and requested to come in immediately. Donna met with me in her office (with Chrissie present), and I sobbed. I showed her my before and after photos. Donna admitted that I did look older, and my results were not good. She apologized for having suggested that I choose Radiesse in the first place, and that she felt responsible, considering this was my very first filler experience. She offered more filler around my mouth and under my eyes to correct it. I said no way. I mean, why in the world would I agree to have more filler injected into my face with the results that I received so far? And just two days prior to my trip?Then Donna suggested that they inject a combination of saline + lidocaine into my cheeks, and deeply massage the product to try to break it up and lessen it. That SEEMED much more hopeful and reasonable. I received two of these treatments, one before and one after my trip. I left for my trip with bruises on my face from the massage, which I had to cover with heavy concealer. (Donna also gave me a tube of makeup to try to help it blend in, which didn't help.) I was offered light therapy to try to lessen the bruising, which also didn't help. I was given a steroid prescription, which only helped the swelling slightly but did not decrease the aged look at all. The saline injection + massage did almost nothing at all. (Later, consulted with a renown dermatologist in Connecticut who is an expert in Radiesse, and she said that the saline treatment wouldn't touch the effects of the Radiesse.) I came home from my trip, and let Dona know that I still looked absolutely terrible, and tried the second Celine treatment. It didn't do much at all. I consulted with Dr. John Burns, an amazing plastic surgeon who has treated me before, and his statement is above. I am now going to have to spend $3500 in corrective fillers with him to try to fix the problem that this business created on my face, because it would be extremely foolish of me to allow them to inject any corrective filler, considering they injected the product in the wrong location on my face in the first place. I also consulted with an award-winning, Dallas-based MD, who basically said the same thing – – that the filler was placed too low on my cheeks, causing all of these problems that make me look much older. I will say that at least Donna provided me with her cell phone number, and ACTED sympathetic when I cried to her about my terrible results. But sympathy doesn't pay my new bills, or undo the emotional toll this has taken. I ended up having to take my once-in-a-lifetime, romantic anniversary trip looking much older, tired, and with a wider nose. I cannot believe I made the mistake of not paying attention to the negative reviews about filler at The Face Place. Lesson learned. I had and have been in constant communication with Donna via text about my results being so terrible (and sustained), with multiple before/after photos that you can see here for yourself. I even sent Donna a screenshot of the above email from Dr. John Burns about the filler being placed in the wrong location on my face, and a quote from him about how much it would cost to fix the problem. She has yet to admit that the fault was theirs, with the injection sites. I requested that I be refunded, and have not yet received a response after sending that request. Nothing. In summary, this is probably the wrong place for your face. Buyer beware.
