Background info ? My Journey with my Jaw/chin has been a huge weight on my shoulders for YEARS now. I had braces for 6 years (they didn't even finish my treatment) and I saw multiple surgeons wanting to perform double jaw surgery on me. I finally had found a surgeon through my insurance that started the process to do double jaw surgery on me. This process started with 6m of physical therapy for my jaw, a year of getting braces for a 2nd time, I needed to take my wisdom teeth out then wait 6m after before my surgeon would even consider doing my jaw surgery... It was such a draining process but that's when I met Dr. Michael Morrissette. Originally Dr. Morrissette was supposed to just perform my wisdom teeth extraction and upon my consultation with him I explained this draining process I had been going through to get double jaw surgery, he then mentioned that he specializes in genioplasties that would give me about the same aesthetic results as the jaw surgery I was preparing for would, but without all of the unnecessary trauma to my jaw and joints. Immediately after our conversation I knew I wanted him to be my surgeon! I did all my research and knew this was something I wanted to have done, fast-forward 6 weeks after my wisdoms teeth came out I had my Genioplasty done! And let me tell you the results from being 2-weeks PO are amazing! I believe it was a 9mm forward advancement. I still have some swelling and numbness but everyday it gets better and better. The first week of recovery was tough on me mentally trying to recognize my new face but as the swelling keeps going down I feel like myself again except with a nice jawline :) I have lost quite a lot of weight from not eating as much in the beginning of my recovery but as I gain some of my nerves back in my lower lip and chin I have started comfortably eating a bit more. Dr. Morrissette is absolutely amazing and hands down one of the most talented surgeons here in Ventura. He and his staff took their time to thoroughly explain the procedure multiple times to me, and addressed all my concerns from my first visit. I also loved how him and his staff have made me feel so beautiful and confident since my before to my after. I Definitely would recommend!
