Over 30 Years Experience in Medical, Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology
I've had fillers, Electrolysis, and regular derm appts here. I got an odd spot that I wanted checked out. When I went in have two insurances, one of which they don't take. No biggies my co-pay was at the time a heafty 50 dollars. I am unable to work due to a career ending injury which typically isn't a big deal until you have very little money. When I arrived they asked for the co-pay. Embarrassingly I had only 30 bucks in my account and asked to pay half then and half the following week. The receptionist called the office manager and she said no. Totally classless as I'd spent some 2-3k there out of pocket over the year. After reading others reviews it's also been said that the male derm is not professional. Guess it's better I found a different derm but I didn't enjoy this experience.
I've had any procedures here both out of pocket (aesthetics) and derm related. Covered by insurance. I needed to see the doctor for a weird growth and went in for the appt and I have a 50 dollar co-pay. I didn't have that much money at the time as I have a secondary insurance due to my being disabled but they won't take it. When I explained I didn't have it all, could I half now and half next week she said let me check with the office manager. When she came back apologetically saying we said no, I was actually embarrassed for her. She felt super bad and I was humiliated. It stinks having to stretch a dollar. I left never to return again and I've read up and the doctor gets terrible reviews. So it all worked out the way it's supposed to. But I wouldn't got there ever again.
I was in Dorset Street Dermatology a month ago and the Dr. put filler under my eyes. I signed the consent form and I knew what I was doing, I made the conscious choice to take the risk and get the work done. At the time, Dr. Schwarz informs me of the risks and the fact that, should the treatment not work properly, there is a product that can be used to dissolve it. I let Dr. Schwarz know then that I would be leaving town within a week, and he told me that I needed to wait 2 to 3 weeks for the swelling to go down in order to determine whether or not the product had worked. After a month of shedding tears and feeling terrible about myself – it became obvious that the lumps under my eyes were not going to go away. Because I am no longer in Vermont I had to go to a dermatologist in Connecticut in order to get the product dissolved. I spent $500 getting the filler under my eyes and another $400 getting it dissolved. I called Dorset Street dermatology to try and get reimbursement for the $500 that I originally spent on the filler. I do not believe that this was an unreasonable request, I was not asking for the $400 that I used to get it dissolved, just trying to offset my $900 mistake by recouping my original $500 investment. After two days of calling them and four different phone conversations with them I was informed that they were unwilling to offer me a refund. They let me know that if I had been in Vermont they would have dissolved the filler for free , but would never have offered me a refund on my original $500 payment. I believe that I should have received my $500 back – to me that is just good customer service. Up until this moment - I liked Dr. Schwarz. We all make mistakes sometimes and I would never have written this nor spoken badly of him, but the fact that I have been shown no compassion regarding this experience leaves the worst taste in my mouth and I can honestly say this is been one of the biggest regrets of my life. Lastly, when I spoke with them regarding this they informed me that the product itself cost almost $500 – upon researching this I discovered that anyone can buy 1 mL of restalyne for $147 online, and I received .5ml.... From a Dr.... To say I am disappointed is an understatement.
