Restylane Silk
Q Could I be allergic to the lip filler (Restylane Silk) and did he overfill my lips? (Photos)
A

Hi There,

I'm sorry you were unhappy with the lip enhancement treatment that you received. Having beautifully placed lip filler can be a great experience. Luckily, from what you explained, it does not sound as though you had  an allergic reaction to the filler. Typically, Restylane Silk is notorious for its extra swelling post treatment. Allergic reactions include; but are not limited to things like itching, swelling, hives and/or shortness of breath.

If the results that you achieved with your injector are not to your satisfaction, you have the option of requesting that he or she dissolve the filler with Hyaluronidase injections. Unfortunately, it will dissolve any and all filler that you have in your lips, but it will allow you to start with a clean slate.

Above all, it is important that you find a qualified and experienced injector and you discuss what you want and don't want so that you can get the best results possible.

Restylane Silk
Q Swelling of lips with Restylane Silk, am I allergic?
A

Restylane Silk is one of my favorite fillers to use for lip enhancement but it has a strong reputation of post treatment SWELLING. As an injector, I always try to prepare my patients for the swelling and make sure they do not feel caught off guard by any normal and expected side effects of a treatment. Yes, Restylane Silk is notorious for its extra bit of swelling post treatment, but as you saw, it only lasts a few days. If you take precautions like avoiding Aspirin, avoiding exercise, abstain from massaging the lips and are diligent about applying ice packs for 2-3 days, you can minimize the effects. Truthfully. despite all of those measures, YOU WILL SWELL. Its a beautiful product, I wouldn't let the swelling stop you from using it in the future :)

Allergic reactions to product can vary from swelling to itchiness, redness, feeling short of breath etc. It sounds like your reaction was completely normal. Best advice is to communicate with your injector if you have any questions or concerns and have them evaluate you just to be sure. Safety First Always.

Best of luck to you,
