The Botox Boss

Botox is a muscular injection that is metabolized by the body. You can expect your results to last about 3-4 months (patients have reported results lasting anywhere between 2-6 months). Some things that can affect the duration of your results are: metabolism, correct dosing, the strength and activeness of the site treated, and appropriate care & handling of the product before being injected.  

The recommended dose of Botox to the 11's per the manufacturer, Allergan, is 20 units. It is normal and expected for patients not to see results the following day. Botox results can start to show around day 4, but will not reach full effect until day 14 after injections.

If you have deep, "moderate to severe" 11's and show deep creases while your face is at rest, then you will most likely need combination therapy for the surface on the skin too in order to "get rid of" those lines.  You should be able to talk to your provider about options such as: micro-needling, microdermabrasion, chemical peel, derma-planing or possible lasers.

Stay in open communication with your injector so they know how to help you meet your goals.

Botox can start showing results 4 days after injections. It's important to remember that everyone's body reacts a little differently and Botox is a muscle injection (I personally see my results start to show at 10 days). Per the manufacturer Botox will continue to make changes and reach it's full effect at 14 days after injection.

There is no 'limit' to how long a person can be treated with Botox. Maintenance treatments are recommended around 3-4 months but many clients find it easier to keep the desired effect by coming in sooner when they start noticing wrinkles starting to show again. Staying on top of your maintenance treatments is also easier on your wallet- if you don't need as much Botox then you don't spend as much money!

An indirect effect of regular Botox treatments over time can be muscle atrophy, which can also decrease the amount of Botox needed per treatment.

Within the Greater Houston Area there is drastic variance on Botox prices.  Injector experience (as well as Before & After photos) are something you should always consider while "price shopping"...

Botox cost is most often set per unit. For example: $14/unit. Each person's treatment site or facial muscles are different in regards to muscle mass and amount of action, and these are the factors that help determine how many units of Botox are needed in a treatment area. A common dose for treating the frown lines between the brows (glabella) is 20 Units. The cost of 20 Units at the price of $14/unit would be $280. Botox price varies in the Houston area between $7/unit and $16/unit, and The Botox Boss offers Botox at $11/unit. Botox results last on average for 3 months, so if it is something you need to plan a budget for you should should plan for 4 times a year.
