PRP for Hair Loss

Hair Thinning for 10 Yrs- Trying PRP and Crossing my Fingers!

My hair has been thinning since around 2005 or at least I didn't take notice until then. Went to alternative doctor around 2009 who put me on bioidentical hormone therapy and thyroid meds and since then the thinning has been gradual. Fast forward to until about 6 yrs ago and it has been dumping out continuously, daily, some days really bad and others not so much. After trying everything there is out there such as biotin and other supplements, hair products, minoxidil I decided the only thing I haven't tried for diffuse thinning would be prp. I feel I have no hope other than trying something that I've read a lot about on Real Self. The cost is per treatment and I'll be doing the normal 3 treatments. It's been 1 month and nothing yet although I know it takes longer and might not visually see anything until after my second treatment scheduled for end of Sept. Now for the pain. Numbing stung in some areas but not so bad and I've had a lot worse pain in my life! Once numbed, the injections didn't hurt at all. I chose PRP with 100mg Acell, a bit stronger than the norm and approx $300 more than the 20 mg. When i got home and the lidocaine wore off, I did experience some pain/soreness and in one spot had the soreness for days. It was bearable and did take Tylenol the first night. I did have some swelling along my nose and under my eye. Went away in a few days. Washed my hair the next day and now just waiting for the next. It didn't take as long as it should have cause I wasn't sure which ACell I wanted to use and wasted some of her time. I'm hoping the next might be longer. I still have hair loss daily although some days aren't bad at all. So I would say nearly no change after a month and I'm still hopeful that after the next , things will improve. So that's my journey so far. I'm hoping this will be worth it. Actually praying cause I'm out of options. I'll post pictures or at least the rest of this crazy journey. Feel free to ask any questions, I'll check my post almost daily. Updated on 11 Oct 2017: Yesterday was my second treatment at Biostation in Delray Beach Florida. Unfortunately the nurse practioner that originally did my treatment is no longer there. So my second was done with Julie. It was like a totally different experience. The first was quick, decisive, in and out and painless because I had numbing cream and lidocaine. Julie told me after sitting in the chair for what seemed forever, that she was waiting for the numbing cream to do it's job and I wouldn't be getting lidocaine. From that point on, my anxiety kicked in. I sat for quite along time while I enjoyed hot tea, a blanket, energy bar and tv! Julie and Dani were so attentive and must have known I needed a bit more hand holding. I have to say that this time around wasn't painless. Felt like my hair was being pulled out each time the needle went in. But I was informed that when doing prp with acell it is more effective if you don't do the lidocaine. So I went with it. Julie didn't see any new growth so the first treatment in my mind did not work or didn't work yet. So hopefully I'll see something in a month or so. I also do not have any residual pain today. Just took one extended release tylenol at dinner last night and today I'm fine which is different from last time. When the lidocaine wore off I had one area of head pain for a few days. Nothing bad but still some pain. So I'm happy with the process, bedside manner and think Julie is great and Dani as well! I'll update if I have something to tell otherwise feel free to ask me anything. Still crossing my fingers ....
