Q: Which fillers would you recommend for me? (photo)
Answered by Dr. WeylerSeptember 20, 2019
A: Fillers can absolutely be used to balance asymmetry of the face, such as small chin. Your options include standard hyaluronic acid fillers (We prefer Restylane products in our practice, but many injectors use Juvederm products). These last 8-15 months, so they are not the most durable fillers, but you can see how you like the results and next time use a longer lasting filler. Radiesse works great for facial augmentation, and lasts 12-18 months in my experience. Sculptra is a biostimulator, and lasts 2-3 years. Biostimulators work by stimulating your own skin cells to add collagen to your face. They can add volume and are used much like hyaluronic acid fillers, but tend to last longer. Bellafill (also a biostimulator) is a 5 year filler, and we call it the Louis Vuitton of fillers in our office, because it is really the best. Good luck, and I hope you love your filler results!
Q: Bellafill for chin augmentation and smile lines, how likely is it to get lumps and bumps using this kind of injection? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. WeylerSeptember 20, 2019
A: Bellafill is an excellent product for chin and smile lines! We use a lot of Bellafill in our practice, and I very rarely see lumps. Studies actually show reduced incidence of complications like lumps with Bellafill compared to other fillers. The advantage of Bellafill is the 5 year duration. Make sure you see an injector with experience for this long-lasting filler. I hope you have a great experience with your Bellafill if you proceed. Good luck! -Dr. Jenny
Q: Does excessive intake of alcohol cause faster breakdown of dermal fillers?
Answered by Dr. WeylerJune 18, 2019
A: I have never found any evidence that alcohol consumption has an effect on filler duration. I have found some people in whom filler does not seem to last as long as others, but I think it is multifactorial and related to one's genetic make-up.
