Been thinking about this for the last 6 months - I ended up cancelling buccal fat removal to get this done instead - I was too freaked out to do anything that invasive so I opted for Ultherapy -- non invasive and *hopefully* will help me combat jowl and overall skin sag. I went with the full face option (no neck) because I am hoping the brow lift will make me look less tired ( I have double lid Asian eyes, but still...the skin is starting to sag) and of course, hoping to reverse the sagging jowls that run in my family. What sold me on this procedure is the fact that it relies on your own body's ability to generate collagen. In which case, the younger you are when you get it, the higher the chance you'll generate more collagen than you would later on in life. Prevention! I was nervous as heck, reading reviews (good, bad, ugly) and all that talk about THE PAIN! Well, I showed up early to the appointment, slathered my face in freezing cream and to my surprise, the doctor there gave me a type of OxyContin to help me calm my nerves and feel less pain. That stuff worked wonders. I started off with 20mg and then 30 minutes later took another 20mg. And I must say, even while I was high, sedated and frozen, I would still rate the pain as 10/10. I told the technician to start off on the most painful area, so we began with the brow/forehead. Above my right brow, I definitely felt a weird sensation in addition to the pain -- little electric brain zaps that travelled quickly to the top of my head. As for the pain...it definitely feels like a cluster of super tiny micro-fine needles poking you all at once in a concentrated area and once you feel that, it starts to feel like a deep, painful, hot ,bruising feeling. Now, bear in mind, that's just me describing a breakdown of what you would feel in one zap. But repeat that over and over again and, well you get the idea. It's not unbearable but it hurts like hell. AND, bear in mind, that was what I felt while on 40mg of Oxycontin and freezing cream. SO once the most painful area was done and over with, the rest was a "breeze". I had a cold air tube in my hand and was aiming it at the spots that were being treated - if nothing else, it just distracts your mind from the pain. The entire procedure took about a hour and I laid in the room and relaxed until the drugs wore off enough so that I could walk around without being dizzy. I went home and popped more holistic arnica pills (which I started taking the night before and the morning of), put on a layer of arnica gel and tried not to stare at my face every other second I could. I was and still am super puffy (also have major PMS so the puffiness factor is triple fold and I do NOT feel sexy/attractive whatsoever) and have accepted that I will be feeling and looking this way for a least a week. Today is Day 1 and there is mild aching. There's a small burn mark on my left cheek (just two lines but it'll go away). Will be updating as I go along. Updated on 20 Jan 2016: So good news is, less than a week and I noticed a slimmer cheekbone line area (sorry, my lingo sucks). Basically, I have chubby cheeks, so I'm happy with losing some volume. Pics attached. But my buccal fat area/jowls, submental chin area...well, they're still swollen. I can feel and over all mild ache when I press into my face a bit, which tells me I am still in a swelling phase and still puffy :( Religiously taking arnica montana homeopathic pills but I feel like they're useless. I started taking Collagen type 1&3 pills from Biocell (about 4000mg of collagen a day).
