This 24 year old woman lost over 120 lbs. Although she was extremely happy to lose the weight, she was left with a great deal of loose skin in several areas including her breasts, body and arms. To fix this, we decided to move forward with a skin reduction. This procedure involves several aspects that can all be done safely at the same operative time. With the breast lift, the patient's nipples are elevated to a position above the crease of the breasts. The tissue is compacted but as you can see, even in the early stages, there is some sloping above the nipples. With the abdominoplasty, the entire area below the fold in her mid abdomen that is hiding her belly button was removed. Then, the tissue above this area was pulled down like a drape and the belly button "repopped" at its birth position. Please note that the belly button is not removed. The patient is sat up during the procedure to enable the abdominal tissue to be tight with the redraping. The resection is also carried all the way around the waist to remove many inches (in this case 6 inches) of waist tissue to the back and thus giving a lateral thigh lift and a butt lift with a "belt lipectomy." Her upper arms were also reduced in size. With this lift, the tissue and skin were removed and the arms tightened with the remaining 1/3 or so of the circumference of the skin around the upper arm areas. The patient is seen 4 months post op.
