This patient had an elongated piercing site from wearing earrings. Under local anesthesia in the office, the earring hole was excised and repaired with a straight line closure in the front of the earlobe. A z-plasty repair was performed on the back of the earlobe to help strengthen the closure by bringing healthy tissue into the area. The ear was then re-pierced 2 months after the repair at a new site adjacent to the repair. The photos show the earlobe before and after repair at 2 months. The incisions should continue to fade and become less noticeable with time.
