PDT or photodynamic therapy is an excellent method of treating some forms of non invasive skin cancers such as IECs, superficial BCCs and sun spots. Unlike other spot treatments, and creams, PDT is often a 'once off treatment.' In fact now a days for the treatment of sun spots we use what is known as daylight PDT- namely patients apply the Metvix cream at home and expose themselves to SHADED light for a few hours. Much easier than old fashioned treatments like Efudex (5FU). Picture below is depiction of only ONE treatment, two weeks apart between photos. A huge improvement in sun spots and precancerous areas.
