This patient had to lose his right front tooth (left of center in the photos) due to a phenomenon known as root resorption where the tooth root essentially dissolves away. Because we recognized the problem and used proper planning in advance, I was able to carefully extract the tooth, place the implant, and use his own natural tooth as a temporary crown. After he had healed for 6 months we converted to a final porcelain crown which can be seen to the right. Because we took great care to shape his temporary tooth correctly, we were able to maintain the tall pink triangles and natural architecture of his gingiva, which can be very challenging with triangular teeth and high contact points like he's got.
