Patient received reduction structured rhinoplasty to remove bump in bridge and the hook-shaped tip. External reduction structured rhinoplasty is a technique pioneered by Dr. Romo in which cartilage is taken from inside the nose while straightening the septum, and is used to rebuild the nose to predetermined measurements. As the nose heals, the skin shrink wraps around the nasal structure. Without the proper framework, the tensile forces caused by scarring distort the external and internal structure. This leads to breathing problems as well as aesthetic problems, such as upturned nose, crooked tip, and asymmetrical nostrils. By adding architecture back into the nose at select spots, Dr. Romo enables the nose to withstand the constrictive forces.
