This patient was treated for Dermatosis papulosa nigra. High Frequency/Radio Frequency technology utilizes a current that is attracted to liquids on the skin surface. This technology enables rapid and precise treatment of minor epidermal irregularities such as broken capillaries, spider nevi, cherry angiomas, fibromas, skin tags, milia and cholesterol deposits. How It Works-Using the hyfrecator or lamProbe, this treatment causes selective heating of the target with minimal to no heating of the non-targeted tissue. For vascular lesions, the target is hemoglobin. The desired clinical endpoint is a change in vessel color or visible shrinking of the lesion with minimal reaction in the surrounding skin. The skin overlying the lesion may be red and raised, similar to a scratch mark.
