This 60 year old Caucasian male presented with periodontal (gum) disease of his upper teeth and missing all of his lower teeth while wearing a loose full denture. He noted his lower denture slid around his mouth like a "hockey puck on ice". He wanted to learn his options. We told him his options were to have his upper teeth (which were loose and hopeless) and either have an upper and lower denture (which would continue to slide around his mouth because there was nothing to hold them in place) or have dental implants to hold fixed set of bridge teeth. He opted to have 20 implants and six FIXED dental bridges placed on all of the implants. These bridges are permanent and don't come out. Treatment took 6 months to complete.
