As can be seen in the "before" pictures, her nipples seemed to "pucker" inward, a condition that can inhibit activities like breast feeding. Dr. Stoker used a duct sparing technique, where the milk duct is neither cut nor closed during surgery to better allow for breast feeding in the future. The technique would also help preserve nipple sensation, which nipple surgery can sometimes damage.
