This 32 year-old woman presented with symptomatic mammary hypertrophy characterized by upper and lower back pain, shoulder discomfort, and occasional headaches. She also had breast-fed 3 children, the youngest of which was approximately 11 months old. She stated that she wore a 38F bra size.
On physical exam she was somewhat larger on the left. I recommended a standard "Wise-pattern" (anchor incision) breast reduction (approximately 445gm were removed on the right, 575 on the left; photographs are from approx. 6 months post-op.) She returned to normal activity levels within several weeks.
