This heathy female in her 40s developed postpartum nipple descent and loss of upper breast fullness, known as “involutional ptosis”. She wanted a moderate change in breast size, in keeping with her body type. During surgery, the 300 cc smooth round implants were inserted in a submuscular plane. This type of pocket provides more tissue coverage over the implants, and decreases the risk of rippling or palpability. After the implants were inserted, a customized breast lift was performed called "tailor tacking" of the skin over the implants. The anchor scar lift permits removal more excess skin than the other types of mastopexy operations, so it is helpful for rehaping the breast in cases of advanced breast sagging. Although some patients like the idea of a hidden scar breast lift, in reality a lift involving more skin excision may be a better option in some cases.
