this young man underwent 3 early technology fractional laser treatments for a pigmented birthmark of the right cheek with no improvement. He sought additional measures to reduce the discoloration. Results at one year followed 30% TCA peel, over which a dermabrasion was performed. Additionally ahead, we applied a modified phenol solution to further reduce the color. The problem for this patient is to avoid aggressive decoloration procedures which can bleach the skin. At this point additional staged decoloration can be performed from time to time. Notice the aesthetic unit approach to the dermabrasion so that any skin lightening is camouflaged in natural aesthetic units.
