Which brings us here, to the fourth installment of This Month in Aesthetics<\/strong><\/a>, an ICYMI recap of industry-molding moments that we’d be remiss not to acknowledge—from a big birthday for Botox to a Bravo star’s upcoming breast augmentation to revamped safety guidelines for Brazilian butt lifts.<\/p>

Botox celebrates 20 years of cosmetic use<\/h2>

The year was 2002. Kelly Clarkson won American<\/em> Idol<\/em>, the Olympics were held in Salt Lake City, the BlackBerry hit the market… and a little thing called Botox entered the aesthetics space. That’s right, the most recognizable brand in aesthetics just turned 20<\/a>. The injectable neurotoxin was first approved by the FDA—for improving the look of moderate to severe glabellar lines, colloquially known as “11s”—on April 15, 2002. It was a groundbreaking moment and only the beginning of Botox’s impressive evolution. (It has since received two other aesthetic indications—crow’s-feet and forehead lines—making it the only neurotoxin FDA-approved for improving wrinkles in three different areas of the face.) <\/p>

To celebrate the milestone birthday, Botox is hosting an immersive and interactive cross-country art installation—with stops in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles, from April 22 to May 22—as well as offering various giveaways<\/a> to Botox patients who are members of their loyalty platform, Allē.<\/p>
