We assign every procedure a Worth It Rating, based on unbiased feedback from RealSelf members. Members rate their procedure as “Worth It,” “Not Worth It,” or “Not Sure.” Our algorithm calculates a total Worth It percentage, based on the number of reviews and Worth It Ratings.
Each year, we rank the 20 Most Worth It procedures. These top-rated procedures meet a minimum requirement of more than 50 reviews and have earned a cumulative Worth It Rating of 90% or higher during that year. Explore this year’s Most Worth It procedures.
As you research providers, you’ll often see the term board-certified. Among doctors, this is the mark of competency within a specialty. You can find a provider’s certifications listed in their RealSelf doctor profile. Learn more about board certification.
You will also come across DO and MD titles. In the United States, these two degrees reflect different types of medical school education. Both DOs and MDs can apply for board certification after earning their medical degree, passing a licensing exam, and completing a residency training program. Learn more about DOs and MDs.
Additionally, RealSelf Verified doctors have a blue checkmark on their profiles. The blue checkmark signifies that a doctor has met our multistep professional and patient-care requirements, including high patient satisfaction, good medical standing, board certification, and a commitment to safety and transparency. We send your consultation request directly to the provider’s front desk. The doctor’s office will contact you to schedule a virtual or in-person consultation. Get our list of 20 essential questions to ask during your consultation.
Sharing your review on RealSelf is a great way to help other people make smart, confident decisions. To post a review:

- Log in or create a RealSelf account.
- Click Photos & Reviews from the navigation bar (or click here).
- Click Start a Review.
- Click Continue.
You’ll be prompted to answer several questions about your treatment and provider.
- Click Continue.
- Fill in the Review form with your story. The review must be at least 200 characters (about 40 words).
- Upload photos (optional). Drag and drop photos into the gray box or click Select files in order to choose them from your hard drive or camera roll.
- Write a caption for each photo and select whether it’s a Before, After, or Wish Pic (optional).
- Click Continue.
- Enter your phone number. This number will be used to send a text message to verify your review. This allows us to ensure that all reviews come from real people—not bots.
- Enter the verification code you received via text.
