Really interested in trying IPL for rosacea next year but very worried in things going wrong and the possibility of making it worse. Does IPL really help with the redness and burning/flushing ? there's very mixed reviews on this and that is after 3-4 IPL sessions. I've been on a low dose isotretinoin for just over 2 months now and theres no real improvement, it's worse now than when i started. does IPL help with the inflammatory ? I suffer from redness and flushing, rash type marks.
I had IPL treatment on cleavage Oct 16,2015, and started to use isotretinoins Nov 11,2015. I only had 240 mg. Anyway, could isotretinoins I had 26 days later interfere with post IPL recovery and cause skin damage? My skin has since been very dry and looked bad. I wonder whether it's because I hasted with isotretinoins. Please, help
I received an IPL for cystic acne 3 weeks ago. Initially, I really improved but suspect I started purging (breaking out in same area) and am now scheduled for accutane on august 16th. Im breaking out pretty bad. Should I do my second treatment ahead of starting accutane? Will this help with purging from the accutane? Does it dissipate after second treatment? My derm said dont bother but my skin is worse than ever right now.
I have eaten Isotretenoin against acne and it has given a good effect. (5 months ago) Now I have red / pink marks left on my cheeks. I'd love to get them removed.. I am scandinavian with extremely pale & sensitive skin and therefore can not withstand chemical peel, etc. I have considered IPL, but I know that some pigments can get worse from IPL. Is it a suitable treatment for this kind of discolourasion or is it better to use e.g. A vitamin and let time heal?
My current doctor in Singapore claims that a non ablative laser is safe on Accutane(20mg once a day for 10 months) and some other derms I've spoken to here in SG claim treatments like IPL are safe on Accutane. However when I speak to my Australian dermatologist back home, he says any form of laser and especially IPL is not safe whilst on Accutane. Or is this a old timer philosophy ?
I've read on this site that oral isotretinoin is contraindicated up to a year prior to IPL because it is photo-sensitizing. Is there a similar contraindication prior to IPL for the various topical retinoids such as: retinal, retinyl acetate, retinyl palmitate, retinol, retinoic acid? What about topical beta carotene? These various forms of Vit A are often included in many skin care products.
