Hi I am 25 and try to take care of my skin as best as I can. About 6-8 months ago I noticed that I had developed a darker brownish skin pigmentation above my upper lip on my otherwise fair skin.  I was told by an estitician that considering the fact that I applied sunscreen daily the culprit might be my birth control pills.I was wondering if anyone has had a similar melasma problem what...

Ladies, I want to help anyone I can because I know how devastating this can be. I had the most beautiful, flawless skin and always received compliments. Then one summer day ( June 2011), I went to the pool like I always do. When i went to the restroom, I noticed that my upper lip looked really dark, but thought it was the lighting. When my daughter asked why I looked like I had a moustache, I...

Has anyone out there had Fraxel laser to treat melasma, and if so, how did your melasma react in the immediate weeks after your treatment?

I have been embarrassed and even depressed from my melasma. It started on my upper lip and then it started to spread. It continued to my forehead, right above my right eye, nose, blotches on my cheeks, and then to make my upper lip complete it went to my chin. The more my melasma spread, the more depressed I got. I wouldn't look at people. The ground was my favorite place to look as I went...

Has anyone had a series of fractional laser resurfacing treatments?  I had fraxel laser a couple of years ago when it required the blue goo, but nothing since they stopped using the goo.  I'm thinking of trying a series, but I wanted to hear what people have to say about it.  I have lighter fair skin that burns easily and freckles.  Any good/bad results or comments? ...

I had the Palomar Fraxel 1540 done exactly two weeks ago for hyperpigmentation. Photofacials have worked well for me, but I was assured this would be better. The pain was intense, but I expected that. What's upsetting, so upsetting, is that 2 weeks later, my face looks worse than before I started. It hasn't peeled, and the spots have just gotten darker; I've even gotten comments on it. Rather...

I just wanted to pass along something that might help others.  Castor oil has worked like magic on mine.  I just put a thick coating of it on the area at night. (also wanted to add that I think my Biotin supplement might have been the cause of the melasma. I am not certain on this, though. Hopefully that helps someone else who can't figure out why they have it.)

I am in need of real advice from real people who either have performed Active Fx or who have been on the receiving end. I am considering undergoing this procedure in the office of a well-respected dermatologist. I am concerned, however, because what I am reading on these boards is not what I am being told by the office. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm 39 and I'm considering have a skin tightening treatment and wondered if anyone has done any research into which treatment is the most effective. I have had a consultation for the Accent laser treatment but i can't say i was too convinced that the results will be particularly good. I've read some information on Titan and feel unsure if this would be a better option.

My doctor advises i do Mixtolaser treatment for sun damage across my cheeks. i have read about bad reactions to mixto. are these true for most people? should the bad results be blamed on the doctor not the mixto procedure? thank you for your information!

I have been trying to treat my melasma since 2006.  I am literally at my wit's end.  I have tried everything known to man.  I have tried laser treatments, IPL treatments, hydroquinone in 2% and 4% as well as Triluma, Tazorac, Retin A, I have tried mandalic acid, I have tried Rodan and Fields Reverse regimen, I have tried Obagi NuDerm, I have tried Vitamin C and MSM supplements,...

Hello ladies! I found an incredible product called NuCelle! It was developed a dermatologist in Salt Lake City utah and NO I do not sell it. This is absolutely legit! nucelle has mandelic acid in it, which is made from bitter almonds. I have used all of the retinols, hydro quinine for years and they NEVER worked. This will get rid of your melasma! You can order it from them online. Www.nucelle...

I had PR for over a year. After 9 months went to dermatologist. She biopsied it, gave me some steroid cream and told me it would "go away after a while". That most people had it for 6 to 8 weeks! I researched on Google, and tried bio oil, herbs, tanning bed, black soap, and dandruff shampoo, none of them worked. Finally found Prreze Pityriasis Rosea Relief cream. Lovely cream, smells nice, has...

I have read that Tranexamic Acid taken orally has helped melasma suffers. Has anyone tried this? If so what type of side effects did you have and what type of success?

Happy Birthday Tom! Enjoy all of your new benefits with the AARP.

My derm suggested Titan for my face skin. My friends have all done thermage.Anyone have an opinion if titan is better than thermage? My doctor said titan will give more even results. confused in Connecticut!

I had acne scarring on one side of my cheeks, so I had c02 laser resurfacing done. The doctor was more aggressive with the scared side. It has now been four months and I feel like that side is more "smushy and malleable" or lacks the elasticity/fat of the less aggressively treated side. It is not visibly noticeable, just something I feel when touching my cheeks. I thought this was somethin...

Is there a difference between the UltraPulse CO2 laser and Fraxel or Pixel lasers? I'm confused by all the different names and think the doctor will try to sell me on whatever machine he has- without it necessarily being the best for me. How can I know I'm doing the best treatment?

So what's the best recomended time in between sessions. If you look online it's mainly 4-5 weeks although some say as much as 6 weeks. I know the longer you wait the better but does it make that much of a difference in the end. Im sure I also read that the more faded the tattoo is towards the latter stages of the treatment the longer you should wait. Thanks
