Hey everyone! I have my surgery scheduled for 2 weeks from today, so I am officially on my pre-op diet. It feels weird to type that, since I think I've only told my mom, sister, and 2 friends that I am having it done. Anyway, I am really excited to start this journey. As of last night I weighed 296 lbs. and I am 5'8" and am 27 years old. I decided to finally do the surgery because my weight has shifted from extremes so often that I really have an issue being able to just keep it under control. I am fortunate that my cholesterol is normal, blood sugar normal, and other lab results came back fine, but I know all of that can change without a lifestyle change. I have tried and re-tried so many diets and exercise routines in the past, but then I always gain back almost double once I fell off the wagon. Concerns (if anyone had these and can offer some advice): Socially. Being in a large office environment and always turning down lunch or breakfast since I am on all-liquid. I really don't want questions asked as to why I'm only drinking liquids and not eating. Caffeine. I have been drinking coffee since I was under a year old. I am only one day 1 but am already struggling since I haven't had all my coffee this morning. How hard was this to kick for some of you? Loose skin. I know it's most of the times unavoidable, and I don't consider it a deterrent to my desire to have this surgery... but what are the best tips I can take to try and lessen it as I go through this journey? Any preventative measures aside from not being so big in the first place? Lol.Work. I work an office job where I sit in front of a computer for most of the day. Is one week of rest enough before returning? I am really excited to start this journey today! I have no doubt it's going to be difficult, but I am excited! -J.D.
