Hi guys, So a couple of while ago I decided to get veneers (10 veneers on the upper jaw and 12 veneers on the lower jaw, just the ones who are visible) .. (for cosmetic reasons). I really didn't have bad teeth and people told me they thought it wouldn't be necessary to change something but I still wanted them whiter (I was especially bothered by the "blue-greyish" enamel). So I opted for BL1 which looked SUPER WHITE (and light-opaque) at the lab. So far, so good. But now the dilemma: I wasn't quite sure how many veneers to get, so I initially got 10 veneers on my upper jaw but only 6 veneers on my lower jaw. I bleached the remaining teeth with laser on my lower jaw. However, after a while I decided to get veneers on the remaining teeth on my lower jaw done as well. Due to the fact that I bleached the remaining teeth on my lower jaw prior to getting the veneers, the remaining teeth looked much WHITER in the end. To make matters worse, some veneers on my upper jaw looked whiter than the others. My dentist told me this means that some veneers on my upper jaw were able to absorb the BL1 colour better than some other teeth. The problem with the other teeth was that even though the colour is BL1, the colour of my 'original' teeth were shimmering through. So my dentist redid the ones which didn't look so white and in short, I have now veneers (all colour BL1) but if you look at me, you see different shades of BL1. So annoying! Now my dentist checks with the lab whether we should redo the other ones again which doesn't look that white. My dentist's explanation: Some of my teeth were filed down much more than the others and thus, these are much thicker and more optically opaque and also seem whiter. The ones who weren't filed down that much, are the ones which aren't that thick and thus, not very opaque which makes them much less white even though it's the EXACT same colour. My advice: Before you opt for veneers, bleach your teeth with laser (ALL of them) or alternatively, make somehow sure that your dentist removes the SAME AMOUNT of enamel from the surface of each and every tooth. Otherwise you may get different shades even though you chose the SAME colour for your veneers.
