Did a Plant Based Diet Clear Your Skin? Share Your Recipes Here

I, like many of you, have suffered from severe acne and I understand how awful it is to deal with troubled skin. I had cystic acne from the age of 18 to my mid 30's, and I felt like my skin was cursed and that I would never rid myself of the painful breakouts. After months of research, I found my solution, and it was so simple.... 80/20 raw vegan plant-based diet and cut out that nasty processed sugar (psst, vegan food isn't bland and boring as people think). A plant based diet may not be the solution for everyone, but either way, I believe that consuming a diet that is rich in unprocessed and mostly raw plant- based foods and low sugar leads to glowing healthy skin, more energy, and overall well-being.
Below you will find some plant-based recipes to get you started, but I need your help, so I encourage you to share your mouth watering recipes in the comments section below.

The first thing I changed on my personal journey was switching from cows milk and cheese to nondairy alternatives. Milk alternatives are very easy to find in the average grocery store, and you can even make vegan milk and cheese at home. The most common milk alternative that you will see in the grocery stores are almond, coconut (or a mix of both), soy, and rice -- but there are much more such as hemp, oat, cashew and flaxseed to name a few. At home, you can make any of those listed and so much more out of nuts, seeds, and grains. Here is a demonstration on a simple almond milk. Just one tip from moi..I always add my sweeteners and salt, etc...after I strain. I simply rinse the jug and pour it back in and give it a quick swirl to mix it up.

The Perfect Mix Balls. 10-12 Pitted Dates, 1/4 cup Real Chocolate, 3 cups shredded coconut, 1/2 cup Goji Berries, a pinch of Sea Salt. 1-2 TBS Unrefined Coconut Oil. Optional: 1-2 Tbs Almond Butter/Cashew Butter.
Why make these, well they are super easy and healthy. The star of the show is Goji berries - did you know they are a complete protein, a super dose of vitamin C, they have zeaxanthin which improves eyesight (it's a carotenoid like a beta-carotene). They are a super brain food as well as anti-aging due to the sesquiterpenes (the what?!) these are oils that naturally make human growth hormone (HGH) in the body. I could go on...but you get the picture -- sweet AND good for you!
