I am 62 years old. About 15 years ago I had an upper eyelid surgery. Over the past five years I have noticed one lid drooping more than the other. I wondered if it was because I had botox...but it persisted long after botox injections, so I assume it is just because of age..but it is vexing. I've had some trouble finding a photo of my eyes that doesn't look great, because I have a tendency to raise my brows and open my eyes when I know the camera is on me. My eyes have been my best feature...so I am pretty nervous about having more work done, yet my Aunt wound up with that half-closed eye in her old age and I'm hoping to avoid that. I am scheduled to have upper eyelid surgery next month. My surgeon told me that it will be a Mueller procedure, which lifts the eyelid by shortening an eyelid structure named Mueller’s muscle. He will not do anything to the top external lids. The Doctor said the stitches will be under the eyelid. I tried researching the procedure online, but I didn't find much. I'm just wondering if anyone here can tell me if they have had this....and what I should expect. He told me that he chose this procedure for me because my lids are beginning to cover the iris and he'll be raising the lids so I can see better. I'll have a general anesthetic. My biggest question is about the stitches under my lid...what is THAT going to be like for my eyes? Thank you!
