Lets talk Post Op supplies!
Im scheduled for a BR September 21, 2016 but im having a hard time figuring out what I need. I know the Surgeon will tell me a few things at Pre-op appointment but there are a few tricks and products that people who had BR's suggest. So to help out other women I want to make this thread about useful post-op supplies. -What brand of surgical bras should I get? I heard about Fruit of the Loom front closure, it looks nice and cheap. I passed by Walmart and saw Danskins zip front sports bra and that looked good too, it was about $11 USD where I live. -What size to get? Ive heard people say to get your current size, is that true? I plan to reduce from J to C, I think getting a sports bra for a J would be too big, no?-Whats the best bandages/gauze? -What to clean with? just water or antibacterial soap? The surgeon will tell me but I want to know your experiences. Im in nursing so I was thinking of cleaning it gently with a saline solution, dry, then apply gauze and just skip soap on the area for a while. -Pillows? Ive heard people say to sleep upright but ive also heard people say sleep on your back, which is it? Did you sleep in bed or on the couch? How many pillows and what type?-Did anyone buy and use silicon strips?-Scar creams? Im sure everyone is interested in this one. How soon after surgery did you start using scar creams? What kind? Would the combo of silicon strips and scar cream be good? -best method to bathe yourself? -Massages? Ive heard of some people massaging in oils.Any other tips and advice? People who are going to get this in the future who can also post your product concerns and questions
