I have been trying to treat my melasma since 2006. I am literally at my wit's end. I have tried everything known to man. I have tried laser treatments, IPL treatments, hydroquinone in 2% and 4% as well as Triluma, Tazorac, Retin A, I have tried mandalic acid, I have tried Rodan and Fields Reverse regimen, I have tried Obagi NuDerm, I have tried Vitamin C and MSM supplements, and I have use 20% zinc oxide sunblock every single day even if I am inside all day. I reapply every two hours. I wear a hat when I go outside. I have gone to a naturopathic doctor and have taken supplements for adrenal fatigue and also high dosages of Vitamin D. I am simply at a loss of what else to do. I am 37 years old, and I simply don't want to live my life like this any more. I have three year old twins, and I really want to enjoy my time with them. My self esteem is at rock bottom. I don't want to go out as I think make up just makes it look worse and because of the high zinc oxide sunscreen I use, my face is normally an oily mess which makes it hard to use make up. I am just so depressed. I would love to hear any advice that others have regarding melsama. I would love to hear some success stories. I am convinced my melasma was caused initially by sun damage and then made worse by hormone imbalance. I definitely think my melasma is dermal.
