Lasik/PRK - Halos and Glare After Almost a Year - What is the problem?
- Last updated: 3 years ago
I would really appreciate any guidance/answers that I might possibly be able to get from the community here. I had PRK on both my eyes and the one developed terrible glare and halos. It's been almost a year now since it was done and my doctor is not being any help even though I have gone to every appointment and used every eyedrop he's asked me to. I rarely drive at night anymore since it's too hard with the lights. I know it's incredibly hard to know without looking at the eye itself, but since I've had so little help from either of the doctor's I've gone to, I would appreciate any information you might have. What I'm really wanting to know is, what is causing the halos and glare? I have large pupils and always have, but the doctor claims the PRK surgery I went in for would have addressed the size issue. I know that, when he gave me two kinds of drops to try to shrink the pupil, they both worked extremely well and most if not all the glare was gone. I also know that the trick to test for astigmatism, looking through a small hole in a sheet of paper at a light, also works and removes the glare. This makes me think it has something to do with the size of my pupil regardless of what the doctor says, or that the flap healed wrong. I know when I had the eye guards on at night after the surgery for two weeks, I would wake up in the morning to find I'd taken them off in my sleep and now I'm worried that I might've moved the flap somehow when I pressed my face into the pillow, etc. and caused a misplacement, hence the slightly blurry vision that also accompanies the other problems. Again, I'd be so grateful for any help you could give me. Thanks.
