Hypertrophic scarring one year on from a reduction/lift; any advice?
Hi everyone,So I had a lift/reduction and asymmetry correction done in August 2015, with Dr. J. Khanna in Greater Toronto, Canada. I developed fairly significant hypertrophic scarring around most of both nipples. The treatment the surgeon's office recommended from their part is just silicone injections or laser treatment every 6-8 weeks or so, which is of course another expense. And they advised wearing silicon sheets. I'm doing all this, which is quite costly to keep all this up, and I'm not seeing any changes really. So, two questions:1) Has anyone out there had success with any other treatments to address hypertrophic scarring? What were the most effective treatments, in your experience?2) Has anyone had good results from laser treatments or silicon injections or sheets? How long did it take? Is it something one needs to keep doing after the first year post-op, and if so, for how long? How about silicon gel (etc.) one year post-op? Could that still be helpful? If anyone has any advice or experience to share, I'd be really grateful. My surgeon is only interested in the patient before the big payout, but has no interest in meeting after, and of course the other staff just have to sell the clinic's services and they do so as diligent employees. So I figured I'm better off asking for independent opinions.
