Hello Ladies, I've been trying to do my due diligence regarding contraindications for Breast Implants and HLA-B27. I am HLA-B27+ and I also Have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. So 1 official autoimmune disease and the dreaded B27 Gene that can often be a precursor to other autoimmune diseases. **Whichever manufacturer of implants you go with you should read the "Contraindications" for their implants. It says to speak to your surgeon if you have an autoimmune disease. When you do, they give you their memorized speech on how "breast implants have not been shown to CAUSE autoimmune conditions"...which is kind of annoying as that is obviously not the question at hand. I think you're better off speaking to your Medical Doctor which I haven't yet had a chance to do.**I have been trying to deduce wether or not it is true that people who are HLA-B27+ react poorly to silicone (including the silicone casing for both silicone and saline implants). I did find one study in relationship to implanted medical silicone devices but nothing else. Then there is the Dr. Susan Kolb who has seen many problems in HLA-B27+ patients. Is this true across the board? Is there anyone out there who is HLA-B27+ who has had their implants for a few years without problems?I am hoping that some ladies who are HLA-B27+ will chime in on their experience with implants wether they are happy or sad. Thanks so much!Signed, Just another girl looking for the answer that she wants to hear.
