How to deal with butt folliculitis?
- Last updated: 1 year ago
Butt "acne" (I know it's not actually acne) is a problem I've been dealing with since adolescence, when I had real acne. My face has cleared completely since then. I'm 19 now, and it's somewhat better down there. But I still have plenty of scars (hyperpigmentation) from past pimples I popped and it's really unsightly. I'm male. I used to wear tight underwear, spend very long periods of time seated and leave sweat there for hours and then get boils and pimples. I'm trying to do the opposite now, but I still get pimples every now and then. I even try not to sleep on my back to avoid sweating and clogging my butt. Ever since I've been sleeping on my sides, I've been getting small bumps (sometimes in clusters) on the side of my buttcheeks and it seems like they're moving down toward my thighs and they're leaving scars too. I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence, but now I'm trying to sleep on my belly just in case. It's really just a problem in my butt--I've had some pimples on my back too but nowhere near as bad as in my butt. I'm very hairy there (and everywhere), but I read shaving would make it much worse. Is that so?I exfoliate often, daily unless I feel it gets dry. I use glycerin soap. I've been using aloe vera (directly from the plant) for a few weeks now, daily (though admittedly I do skip it some days because it's so much work.) I know the aloe won't help w/ the acne necessarily, I do it because to get rid of the scars. I also apply benzoyl peroxide (10%) on pimples when I get them, but rinse after 30 minutes or it ends up staining stuff. I don't know what else I can do. So I guess my question is: is there anything I can do to permanently get rid of this? Maybe oral antibiotics? Anything that worked for anyone?Thank you!
