On Oct. 21, 2016, I decided, as a last resort for pain, to have Botox injected in low back muscles. Since shortly after that time, I have been in bed except for Dr. appointments.
Dr. Garrett Wright, a pain management (PM)
in Oklahoma City gave me the injections. I immediately felt shoots down each leg. I asked him why and he said curtly, "I don't know." The trip home was challenging. After being in bed, I could not lift either leg.
A week after my Botox injections I started developing side effects: constant fatigue; dry mouth (want nothing but water to drink); extreme burning in lower extremities and upper back; muscles ache constantly; severe constipation, nausea and vomiting; hard to breathe and turn neck; difficulty eating and swallowing, loss of taste and smell, fatigue when talking, texting, etc.
No doctor would even attempt to diagnose my symptoms. One nurse said no doctor will see you because of liability.
I first relayed my symptoms to my neurosurgeon. I had an appointment for quite awhile and wanted to keep appointment. He did not address my symptoms but did suggest a nerve block which was unsuccessful. He referred me to my neurologist. The neurologist would not answer one question. He referred me to a PM Doctor here in Norman, OK. His PA referred me to ER or my primary doctor. Primary doctor's nurse told me to go to ER and I did. ER Doctor would not address why I had these symptoms. She referred me to my primary doctor.
Primary Doctor's nurse told me to see the doctor who gave me the Botox injections.
I then met with Dr. Wright who is always curt, rude, etc., but was actually compassionate. His nurse came in the room with him. I told him my symptoms and said from what I researched they were all the side effects of Botox. He basically said that it would be unusual for Botox to cause these. I asked him how much Botox he gave me.
He said 100 units. Also, I asked him to call Botox pharmaceutical company and ask them about all my symptoms. He did and they said the same. The company was Allegran which has been involved in many litigations.
It tires me to talk/text. Entire body feels partially paralyzed. Nightmare does not stop. I feel like a ping pong ball being sent from doctor to doctor.
