28, Female, Medical Student- Repeatedly being told "I look tired"
- Last updated: 1 year ago
I'm a third year medical student who recently completed my first round of board exams. Over board studying this summer, I developed dark and puffy circles under my eyes. The lines under my eyes, which I have had since I was ten years old, became more prominent. During this time friends and family often told me "I looked tired." This made sense to me because I was stressed and exhausted. I expected to look less tired once my board exam was done. Now that I have started clinical rotations and am getting more sleep, I am still being told by family and friends on a frequent basis that "I look tired." It is really starting to bother me and is cutting down my self esteem. I'm not sure how to have a more restful appearance. I have been using Teamine Eye Complex and Cerave eye cream twice daily for three months. I wash and moisturize my face morning and night with Cerave products. I also use Atralin in the morning and Aczone in the evening to control acne. I wear daily sunscreen. I drink 1.5-2L of water a day. I get as much sleep as I can considering I am a med student (usually 6-7 hrs). I do have bad allergies and often wake up in the morning with very, very puffy and swollen eyes. I am thinking my allergies may be contributing to my "tired" appearance but am not sure. For allergies I use Allergra-D 24 hours and Flonase. My question is: How do I look more rested? What is the best way to eliminate the dark circles, bags, and lines under my eyes?
