Nipples are most aesthetically pleasing at the lower angles of an equilateral or a short isosceles triangle on the chest with its apex at the sternal notch (the large visible dip in the neck). A mastopexy (or breast lift) is a procedure that can correct droopy breasts. A mastopexy raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. A breast lift can be done along with a breast augmentation or as a separate procedure depending on the desired results of the patient. For the first week after surgery we recommend no heavy lifting greater than 10 pounds and avoiding any strenuous activity. Short walks throughout the day are encouraged to prevent blood clots. After your first follow up appointment the following week after surgery, patients typically can resume activities as tolerated using pain as their guide. Listen to your body. If it hurts, then back off a little until you can you can perform the activity or exercise with minimal discomfort.

For the first week after surgery, patients will find sleeping on their back will help with pain and swelling. After your first post-operative appointment the week after surgery, most patients can “sleep to comfort” meaning sleeping in whichever position is the most comfortable without causing pain.

A compression bandeau bra is worn for the first week after surgery to help with swelling and spasms of the pectoral muscle. Starting around 10 days after surgery patients can do gentle massage of the upper part of the breasts to help relax the pectoral muscle to help the implants “drop down”.

All our patients are tested for COVID-19 prior to surgery whether symptomatic or not. If there is a positive result, then surgery would be rescheduled for 2 weeks after. For a common cold, based on the severity of your symptoms, we would collaborate with the anesthesiologist to determine if it is safe for you to proceed with surgery.

Swelling after breast augmentation typically peaks around 3-4 days after surgery; however, there can be minor swelling for several weeks. Ice packs or cold compresses are effective in managing swelling for the first 48-72 hours after surgery. Sleeping in an upright position with the head elevated can also help for the first week after surgery. We also have you wear a compression bandeau bra for the first week after surgery. All these things are effective in managing the acute post-operative swelling.

After surgery the breasts will be wrapped in gauze dressings and a compression bandeau bra to minimize swelling and support the breasts as they heal. The implants may be riding very high in the chest. This is due to swelling and spasms of the pectoral muscle. Wearing a compression bandeau bra helps keep the implants from riding up. As the swelling decreases, the implants will slowly move down into a more natural looking position usually within 3-6 weeks after surgery. No heavy lifting greater than 10 pounds or strenuous activity should be done for the first week. After that we encourage patients to use pain as their guide in increasing activities. Patients typically return to work the following week.

Based on your photos, It seems like you could be a great candidate for a breast reduction. With breast reduction surgery you are able to correct some asymmetry as well as lift the breasts. Many times breast reductions are covered by insurance because of the functional problems they cause, but will require a certain amount of breast tissue, fat, and skin to be removed - determined by your height and weight.

This is what we call a "dog ear." These can improve with time, however at 7 months it is unlikely to change or improve. It will not hurt anything by leaving it there, but if it bothers you this can be excised in the office under local anesthesia. Given enough time AlloDerm will incorporate with your native tissue and become a part of you. When AlloDerm is completely incorporated there is no reason to remove it. It seems much more likely the cause of your pain, tightness, and frozen shoulder is related to the chronic inflammation and radiation. We recommend and refer our patients to see a physical therapist who specializes in post-operative breast reconstruction patients. In regards to your ultimate breast reconstruction it may be that you are simply not an implant based reconstruction candidate, but there are autologous reconstruction options you could possibly be a candidate for. Dr Doubek was very patient with the process of helping me through my stages of breast reconstruction after mastectomies. His staff was caring and responsive; they saw me on an acute basis when I had questions and they followed me up after mastectomy complications prior to being initiated in their care. After rapidly gaining weight during pregnancy & losing the weight approximately 5 years later the skin around my arm lost elasticity. Routine weight training and exercising did very little to help. I looked into a arm lift & didn’t want the long scar of a traditional arm lift so I opted for a mini arm lift which the doctor agreed I was a candidate for. I was concerned at first due to the puckered appearance of the scar but I’m happy to report that it did flatten out. I’ve had some Fractora Tx to help with the appearance for the scars as well. I am very happy with the results and would choose this provider again. The only suggestion I would make is to have your compression garment at the time of your appointment as they are not offered at the doctors office and I spent a considerable amount of money purchasing different garments until I found the right one. I wish I would have had the procedure years ago. In review of the pictures it should be noted that I have had a baby (gaining some weight & thus loosing some muscle since the surgery that I’m actively working on). The stretch marks are next on my wish list.

I was very impressed with Dr Doubek on my first visit to consider Breast reduction surgery. He was on schedule and had obviously looked at the medical history that I had filled out, asking questions about different things in that history. He then totally explained the procedure, even drawing diagrams. Talked about the recovery and what to expect from the outcome. It was a very thorough visit and made me feel much more comfortable about having the procedure. And the outcome is amazing!! He did an excellent reduction. Very symmetrical, no complications and my recovery was a lot faster than I anticipated. I was back to exercising in a little over a week.
