I was started on estrogen replacement therapy in my 40's as I had a hysterectomy when I was 36 and that's what they recommended back then. I took estrogen for 20+ years. It took me 6 yrs. to wean myself off the estrogen and in the process intercourse became increasingly painful. I was not ready to give up on sex. I’m a 63 year old woman with vulvar lichen sclerosis diagnosed about seven years ago by my internal medicine doctor when my labia were gone and my clitoral hood fused. (It took awhile for my internist to know what was going on in the very early stages. Dr Lee was simply amazing. She did a full exam, and was honest about the benefits of the procedure. She explained every detail of the MonaLisa touch, and allowed me to make an informed decision about my body. Intercourse is less painful and I am sure that will improve with further treatment.
