Derek Fletcher, MD
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Fletcher grew up in the Pacific Northwest. He earned his undergraduate degree in Health Science at Walla Walla University and his M.D. degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Fletcher then went on to complete a 7 year, integrated plastic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh, which consistently ranks among the top 1 or 2 plastic surgery programs in the country. The University of Pittsburgh is well know for training leaders in plastic surgery by way of its high volume and very broad experience. While at UPMC, Dr. Fletcher learned from some of the very best surgeon educators in the country. During his research year, he served as the Hand Transplant Fellow, taking part in the first bilateral female hand transplants performed in the United States. While at UPMC, Dr. Fletcher became obsessed with the mastery of surgical technique driven by the desire to offer his patients the very best care he possibly could. To that end, he sought out additional training by way of the following subspecialty fellowships: Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Fletcher became fascinated with facial cosmetic surgery while in residency. This interest drove him to seek out additional training with the late Dr. Mark Codner. Dr. Codner was a master of facial cosmetic surgery. His books, articles and lectures on eyelid surgery, facelifts, and rhinoplasty have been critical to the advancement of facial cosmetic surgery around the world. While under the tutelage of Dr. Codner, Dr. Fletcher learned advanced techniques in upper and lower eyelid surgery, face and neck lift techniques and rhinoplasty surgery. The University of Pennsylvania Microsurgery Program. This training experience focused on advanced techniques in reconstructive microsurgery with an emphasis on breast reconstruction after breast cancer. Because it is among the busiest microsurgery programs in the world, fellows are able to partake in hundreds of complex operations, gaining vast experience in a short amount of time. Dr. Fletcher refined the skill of small blood vessel and nerve dissection necessary for perforator flaps like the DIEP, SIEA, SGAP, IGAP, and PAP. This skill enables the surgeon to harvest tissue for breast reconstruction while minimizing injury to the patient’s body. In addition, he learned how to shape this tissue into a beautiful, natural-appearing new breast. At Penn, Dr. Fletcher discovered his passion for helping women recover from breast cancer through reconstructive surgery. Because of this training experience, he is able to offer advanced and comprehensive care to his patients. The Curtis National Hand Fellowship. This fellowship is known for its dedication to outstanding surgical education. At Curtis, Dr. Fletcher learned advanced techniques in fracture care, tendon reconstruction, arthroscopic surgery, microvascular surgery, nerve repair and transfer as well as reconstructive bone and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Fletcher is committed to providing the highest level of surgical care to his patients. Amazing job on DIEP Flap - everything is symmetrical and natural

Dr. Pannucci is a wonderful surgeon. He performed my DIEP Flap (breast cancer) reconstruction surgery in February 2023. He took a lot of time explaining the procedure and answering all my many questions. He never made my pre or post surgical appointments feel rushed. He was thorough and made sure I always felt comfortable. He has a patient, kind, and empathetic bedside manner, a truly...

He was professional, kind, caring & attentive to details

Dr Pannucci was everything I could have asked for in a plastic surgeon. He was professional, kind, caring & attentive to details, which I really appreciated. He had a plan for my breast reconstruction from pretty much my first appointment with him. Dr Pannucci not only listened to me & what kind of treatment I wanted but he was considerate of my husband too & included him in our...

Doctor you can trust! Couldn't have asked for better breast reduction results

My experience went above and beyond my expectations. All I could think of was getting smaller breasts to improve my daily function. I kept telling him that I was not concerned about what my breast looked like as long as they were smaller “ no offense to anyone that was forced to have them removed. I have been larger than a c cup since third grade and have built a distain and not great r...

Mastectomy 5 months ago, extremely pampered & outcome better than pre-diagnosis

I found myself in the care of Dr. Oliver-Allen after receiving a Breast Cancer diagnosis. I usually bristle at male doctors when it come to my female body, due to a history of finding male doctors to be dismissive. Not Dr. Oliver- Allen. He is kind and supportive, he took his time with me. He listened to me. He should be teaching bedside manner no doubt! The results were amazing. Breast...

Q: 49kg, 5'1, could I be left with uneven bulges if I have a TT with shorter scar? (Photos)
Answered by Dr. WheelerApril 13, 2024

A: I agree with you. If you have a short scar tummy tuck you will be left with uneven fullness on the sides.

Q: 70, fit, BMI 21, tummy tuck & past lipo, I don't know if I should have muscle tightening? (Photos)
Answered by Dr. WheelerApril 13, 2024

A: Yes we deal with this all the time and yes it is more difficult and the results less predictable when you have had lipo in the past. Your PS is correct on the recommendations. You don’t appear to have much laxity in the lower abdominal skin and maybe consider a reverse tummy tuck.

Q: What reasons would fat be added just to the upper face? Can this still look natural?
Answered by Dr. WheelerApril 13, 2024

A: You can add fat to just about anywhere on the face and done judiciously it will look very natural. This is especially true for weight loss patients

Q: Is it worth it to do the lower facelift in my early 40s? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. WheelerApril 13, 2024

A: The quick answer is yes. Early intervention facelifts are totally worth it. Why spend your golden years feeling like you look older than you are? If done correctly (deep plane facelift) it will be completely natural looking and not ruin anything in the future if you need it again. I have several examples of facelifts I did on people in their 40s on my insta Drwheelerpsnw

Q: Lower face/neck lift and SVT?
Answered by Dr. WheelerApril 5, 2024

A: We would want cardiac clearance from your cardiologist but otherwise you should be fine to have a facelift in our fully Medicare certified surgery center. We would keep you overnight in our center to monitor you which is a huge advantage of using such a high level accredited center
